I have a Samsung Galazy S5 and Tab 4 8.0.
I bought the Tab 4 from T-Mobile before I found out B&N would be selling them for far less.
The problem I am having is with the Nook app released in May of 2014. It works fine for text based works, such as novels and even technical books. However it is unusable for magazines with images, or manga at all. I'm very sad to see that there was a posting of a similar problem with the latest Android versions posted 2 years ago.
With Magazines, opening one up gets you immediately into "article view" which is essentially the text of the article, but attempting to click on the magazine page itself to view any graphics causes the application to exit. Imagine trying to view National Geographic this way, or any Manga. I believe some one else has complained of comincs being broken the same way, but they attributed it to the latest Android versions.
In any event, I spent something like $200 at the Viz website because their manga reader works. I wanted to buy more magazines, manga and other things via B&N but until this is fixed I'm afraid I can't order more from B&N.
I downloaded some books and wanted to store them on my pc. I connected my Nook simple touch glowlight to my pc and opened the drive, navigated to the 'Books' folder - Nothing there to transfer???? I can open and read the books on my nook but how do I save them elsewhere if I can't find them? any help much appreciated
Adobe air appears to be built into OS 2.2.0 on the HD+ and is version 3.x but the current google play version is 22.214.171.124. Attempts to upgrade always fail with the error application already exists. I need to upgrade to the newest version, please assist!

After having my Nook for 3 months I noticed that I was being charged sales tax for Nook purchases, even though I live in a state with NO sales tax, and bought the Nook at a B&N in this state. That was back in March; I reported it here, and a B&N rep suggested a fix which, apparently hasn't worked, as I am still being charged sales tax on purchases. It's starting to add up -- at this point I've been charged close to $40 in fake sales tax.
A PM to the B&N rep has produced no responce for nearly a month, leading me to conclude that they really have abandoned the Community.
OK, fine, technology marches on, and with it discussion fora. But what's the new alternative for reporting issues?
Or does abandonment of the fora also mean that B&N has abandoned all support for their eReaders?
I have an old first edition Nook reader which is registered under a previous email address. I am unable to change the email address on the Nook. I have the Nook app on my tablet which is registered using my current email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. I went through the process to unregister and re-register the Nook, but when I change the email address it tells me the address is already already in use.

I have an HD, a new Glowlight, and I am so angry right now that I feel like sending them both back under the warranty plan, and then buy someone else's e-readers.
This book will not download to a Nook HD+ - it gets to 100% and then starts over.... The issue has been reported and verified but not fixed. How long is it reasonable to wait for a fix before getting a refund?
I have a Nook HD that locks up from time to time- once I able to do a hard shutdown and restart, I notice there are massive amounts of junk dowloads- one time it numbered over 100, this current time I stopped it at 75. They are not Nook based- each file is marked with random alpha-numeric codes followed by (dot)AndroidCoverMedium_Aspect.
One example is 01Q007CsPEOdi36lupS7UA.AndroidCoverMedium_Aspect. No two are the same- all random in the format described. In order to remove them, I have to delete each one individually. Is the Nook HD susceptible to a virus or uninvited file downloads? Not real confident in hooking the device up to a computer at this point- cannot find anything on Android forums describing this. Please advise.
Saturday 3/29/14 I was trying to download a book directly from the store on my nook simple touch when I realized my nook wasn't connecting to the WiFi. The last time I downloaded a book successfully was Friday 3/28/14. So I figured no big deal I will just manually download the book onto my computer then onto my Nook. That didn't work either since I couldn't get the book to download onto my computer. Got in touch with customer service who tell me they are performing system maintenance which was affecting both downloads and WiFi and to try back later. Still have not been able to get it to connect to the WiFi or get books to download to my computer, however I can now get them to download to my phone and iPad which wasn't working on Saturday. Any ideas? As of right now my Nook is completely useless unless reading previously bought and downloaded books.
Apologize if this is a duplicate, could have sworn that this issue had been raised before, but can't seem to locate it.
As of today 4/4/14, "some" PagePerfect books are still not downloading to the HD+.
Prior to purchasing, via the main webpage
1) I checked the devices the book would work on. It clearly stated that it would work on the HD/HD+.
2) I checked the book specs. It doesn't say on the webpage that this is a PagePerfect book. (If it had, I wouldn't have purchased it.) It just says "epub."
3) If I had checked the book specs from the HD+, it does say that it is PagePerfect. Why the conflicting info?
If you can't get these type of books to work on the HD+, then at a minimum, please fix the webpage specs!
A couple days ago, I noticed that a book I purchased in November was suddenly missing from my book list and devices. I had accessed it a week or two ago.
I have been trying to access customer support but every time I try, they're down for routine maintenance or closed for the day.
Getting furious. A WANT MY FRICKING BOOKS BACK.
People at Nook! Listen carefully! English, French, and German, and a number of other European languages are partly derived from Greek! We all use words derived from Greek words every day! You cannot afford to let any Greek characters, with or without accent marks, display incorrectly!
For example, if in an English text the etymology or derivation of an English word is discussed it may well be that its root is Greek, and thus the Greek root-word will be given! It must then, surely, appear perfectly on the Nook. If not, then the Nook really is below par. But this is what's happening. Every Greek word has a stress mark over one of the letters, and at the moment the Nook can't handle such stressed letters.
Before you attend to anything else on the Nook, you need to sort out this fundamental problem. Research this issue thoroughly. Many Greek characters appear correctly, but, remember, in every Greek word one character is always accented, to show the correct syllable to be stressed. The Nook has got to handle this!
At the moment the Nook can handle every Greek letter in a word except the letter that is accented. The Nook thus replaces that letter with a question mark.
I purchased a Glowlight less than two weeks ago. I love the features and functions but after less than a week I had an issue where the screen would blink, then when it came back on it had forwarded to a random page in the book I was reading and would not go back. It would turn pages forward but not back and you could not get the menu to come up by touching the center portion of the screen. It also would not turn off or go to the screen saver when pressing either the home button or the power button. After trying everything I took it back to my local store where the "expert" did not believe this was happening. He also tried everything including factory reset and it did the same thing for him, so they reluctantly replaced it. That was 5 days ago and now the new one is doing exactly the same thing. This time I was able to get to the factory reset screen, cancel the factory reset and get back to a place in the book that is about 20 pages behind where I actually was when the screen blinked but at least it seems to be working for now. Any idea what is going on?
A few months ago I was charging my nook but suddenly my nook went into factory reset. I lost all my books on my ereader though they are still in my account. Everywhere I take my tablet I get the same message "check wifi connectivity". On the top right of my tablet the wifi icon is now grey instead of green and under network settings it says that wifi is on. I've used wifi in several places (friends and family) but I can't get my books back. How do I get them back?
I just got a NT its been working good until today. I went to open one of my apps that requires wi-fi and it said I wasn't connected so I went to my settings to connect. It then showed no networks not even B&N so I went to add a network. I put all the info in and pressed save but it didn't save or add the network. I haven't got the MAC filtering pop up yet, but it does say that my MAC address is unavailable. What do I do?
I own several Nooks, and I also run the Nook Windows app on my Windows 8 tablet device. I flew out of town last weekend and was reading a newly purchased book on my Windows tablet on the flight. I tried to go back to continue reading that book a couple days later and it was no longer in my library. It was then that I noticed a number of other newly purchased books were missing. I tried synching my library but after the synch it returns the message "New Items: 0". The books all show up in my library online on barnesandnoble.com.
Unfortunately I'm still out of town and my other Nook devices are at home, so I can not test the synch on those devices at this time.
I am on the latest version of the Nook Windows app.
Any ideas? (and no, dumping my Windows tablet is not a worthwhile suggestion, just saying in advance)
Cannot update Adobe Air to a current version (slight security issue)
Have to load both the google play facebook apps and keep the original nook facebook on the HD+
Cannot update Google Play Music to the Play store version of the app, which allows chromecasting
Also cannot update the nook native twitter to the current Play store version of twitter...
Most other apps will allow you to install *both* versions* or one version (google play) will let you install over certain Nook apps... (facebook and many of the google native apps will let you overinstall)
Ideally i think the nook needs to be refreshed up to a current gen of Android esp with 4.4 allowing performance improvements for lower spec devices.. theres still quite a few glitches in 2.1.1 with menu appearances, touch sensitivity, sync issues, even after a full factory restore... Also the nook doesnt seem to know how to make icons dissapear that use a registration app.... even with a reboot.. (I.E if you buy certain apps, they are used to verify registration payment and their icons are supposed to vanish from the screen on reboot.. they dont)
I think this would be a great idea, not only for ease of access, but to show potential Nook buyers that there is a community out there. Otherwise, you feel disconnected and wonder if anyone else owns the device. BN should be proud of the bookclubs and tout them.
This primarily occurs on graphic-heavy items such as digital comic books. The page display arbitrarily switches between expanded and full page views, jumps within the expanded page, skips forward or back one or more pages, Additionally, when the page is on expanded view, it occasionally locks into position, so that you cannot hold and drag the image to see another part of the graphic page. This occurs whether the unit is fully discharged or 75% or more discharged, and when the behavior begins, the battery discharge appears to accelerate, so that when this behavior begins to occur, a fully-charged unit may need recharging after one hour of use. A hard reset doesn't appear to help, nor does cleaning the screen. The behavior is inconsistent, but appears to be more frequent if the unit has been in frequent use during a day. The same issue does not occur with text-based products. This is very annoying, and makes the Nook Color almost unusable for my primary purpose.

Open a book (any book). Hold on any *complete* word for a moment, and it will show as "selected"; at the bottom of the interface, you'll have options to Highlight, Add Note, Share, or Look Up.
Browse to a page, or adjust your text size settings, so that you see a work that is hyphenated at the end of the line (right side). Try to select either side of the word, and you'll find it impossible. You can only highlight the word by bumping or decreasing text size. Users should be able to highlight text-wrapped words.
With my font settings, I see about 150 words on an average page; of these, about 5 are typically auto-hyphenated. This means I can't readily use the dictionary for about 3% of the words I see at any given time.
Since the update that gave us Google Play access (2.06, I think), my son's Nook HD has filled up with apps because we are unable to leverage the SD card to offload apps from primary memory. What is the timeline to provide support for App2SD? I see little sense in having an SD card slot if it can only be used for personal music and other files.
I even went to my local B&N store where the Nook person called Nook Support directly while I stood nearby. It was confirmed that there was no way to do this today - either via app or native software coding, but this phone tech had no idea if an update to permit this was in the pipeline. However, they did note that this was something that was being asked about since Google Play came into the fold.
Related to this, you guys need to do a better job of making your timelines for software changes known - especially since B&N has decided to stop future Nook hardware updates. If you want us to use your ecosystem, you need to be more transparent in a public manner instead of digging through comments here in these forums.
We believe there may be a bug introduced to the default launcher in the 2.1.1 update.
Our app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adsi.kioware.client.mobile.app) uses two different launchers. The problem is that regardless of which launcher icon you click on you always get the one activity.
Note: I wouldn't suggest testing using our app. It's a kiosk app and will lock you out unless you know how to exit. See below...
To confirm our suspicions we also tried it using Google+ which also uses two different launchers icons. "G+ Photos" and "Google+" both launch into the exact same screen when "G+ Photos" is obviously suppose to go into the photo's section of Google+. The icons worked correctly on a Nexus 10 and a Galaxy S3 but did not on the Nook HD+.

When opened, 3 of my books open up to completely different authors and stories - on my Nook and PC. I have contacted Customer Service more than several times and I get the same disingenuous response each time - "the problem lies with the eBook file itself" - while it is great that BN's "Content Team" knows that the problem is with THEIR formatting, they don't fix it! In the same e-mail they ask for my patience and say it will be fixed within 1-2 weeks. Really? Not true!!
This weekend, I've been rereading some older books, namely anything by Philippa Gregory. I decided that I wanted to reread 'The Red Queen' earlier, and tried to find it on my Nook HD. Lo and behold, it has disappeared from both of my Nooks, my iPhone app, and my online archive-- it's no where to be found. I'm not sure if I'm missing any other books, right now I'm too angry to even begin to wrack my brain for that information. I know that I purchased that book right after it was released in 2010, and I know that it was on my Nook[s] earlier this year. But because the purchase is so old, I can't find the order number on my account page.
Needless to say, I'm pretty infuriated right now. I'm willing to repurchase, as it's on sale for $6-- but how many more of my ebooks are you going to delete without my knowledge? Am I purchasing these, or is this just a library, and I'm paying to borrow? Stop updating/messing with my library without letting me know!
Whenever updating twitter from to the most recent version via the play store, the update will uninstall after turning on the wifi later and the library syncs. With the nook version of twitter this is less noticeable since the twitter app version is 4.1.7 and not 4.1.8. Please fix.
I have the nook tablet and it worked great. About a month or so ago I started having problems when connected to Wi-Fi. Works great when its turned off. No problems reading books or any non Wi-Fi needed apps. But when I turn on Wi-Fi its fine for a few minutes then it starts to "wig out". It just randomly starts opening pages. Then it will say "battery critically low" even if its fully charged then just turn off. Once I turn Wi-Fi back off its fine again. Any suggestions?
All of a sudden, my nook seems frozen on the "drag to unlock your nook" screen, I cannot even turn it off...cannot slide to open, nothing. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what I can do to fix it? I even tried putting it on the charger to see if that would pull up the "charging" screen..nothing. I really want to read the two new books I purchased a few days ago, but cannot do anything. Very frustrating,..I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone has. If it had batteries, I would pull them out and start again, but no such luck.....Help!! BW
I have the Nook app on my android phone and a Nook HD. Recently I noticed that a favorite book of mine had disappeared off my phone app. It still shows up on my Nook HD. It is also missing from my library on the website. I did not delete it. Again it is a favorite of mine. I bought is a few years ago and would rather not have to buy it again, especially since the price of that book has doubled. It would not be a big deal but I don't carry my Nook all the time. I am afraid it is going to disappear off my Nook too. I have deleted the Nook app and reloaded it, with no change. I have synced with no change. They are charging $16.99 now for this book and I originally paid $7-8. Because I purchased it so long ago I can't even find a record of the purchase.
I have sent an email to B&N but no response yet.
Every time I open and attempt to read the latest issues of my magazines, it crashes my NOOK for PC. I am allowed to get a few pages in then CRASH! and the following message appears:

The new issues of both Analog and Asimov's magazines are missing their cover art, both on the web pages for the magazines (linked) and on downloaded copies. The cover art does appear within the epub file once you download it, but won't display in the issue list on the Nook.

Yesterday 48 NEW pornographic titles (a few examples: Threesome with Daddy, Lesbian Sex, ...) showed up out of the blue of my two nooks. Looks like some sort of advertising. I am extremely annoyed, especially since one of the nooks is used by my young son. Customer support told me that they push what seems to match my interest. None of the books that I purchased in the past even remotely suggest any interest in this type of "literature". I am not even sure that this practice is legal. For now I deleted them (they show up in the archived section). Tedious work, as they have to be deleted one by one...
Has this happened to anyone else?
I have allowed Google Play in my son's profile and have set the shop up so that a password has to be entered with every purchase. about 6weeks ago the app will not load on his profile. I have purchased several movies and shows for him and now he can't watch them unless he uses my profile. I get a box that says "Google Play has stopped working" and then I am given the option to close or report. I report everytime, have changed the settings for his profile and nothing has worked. Incredibly frustrating.
#2 if I leave WiFi on while, when I read a book, without fail, everytime my Nook will update and reboot the whole system. When not reading it will also reboot at times, but it happens at least once a day where it restarts the whole system and is not uncommon for it to happen up to 3 or 4 times a day. I called customer support and they gave me the runaround about it and nothing she said made sense. I am highly disappointed in myself for purchasing this since I am unable to even enjoy it. Any help is fixing these problems is welcome, otherwise I am returning and requesting a full refund, including all purchases made on the device, for the device.
Add an icon to the e-mail trash folder to delete all of the items in trash. I have over 20,000 items and it's just not realistic to flag each item, 25 on a page, for delete. A "delete all" is really needed.
I bought 4 books and they didn't load at that time in my nook 3G. I've tried to download them and every time I get bars showing the signal is good but I get a popup that says I need to check connectivity or it said download starting and then download queing. Whats with that?
I am requesting (politely & nicely) someone from the Barnes & Noble support team to address this problem and let us know what the heck is going on with us not getting a magazine download?

I have over 300 books on my nook and as many as 25% of them give me this message when I try to open them, "We're working on making this title available on NOOK® for Web. In the meantime, read it on our free NOOK Reading Apps." 1. I do not want to read on my computer 2. Why was I sold a book (many books, actually) that have not been configured to work with my nook? How soom will these issues be fixed as there are many books I'd like to read but cannot because the title is "not available". If you are selling a shirt in a store but the buttons do not work, do you sell the shirt and tell the customer you are working on it? Then why would you sell ,many non-working nooks and tell me you are working on fixing them so I can read them with my Nook? It doesn't make sense.
Also, I put a $50.00 credit card on my b & N account so I could buy nooks but it does not use my gift card - it pulls payment from my credit card instead. I thought it was supposed to pull payment from gift cards first. Why am I having issues with that as well?

When I am in the shelves of my Library, I touch the edit button on any shelf to add a book to the shelf and the Nook changes the page I am on. SO FRUSTRATED!!! I am getting ready to go back to my 1st edition. I have had this Nook Simple Touch less than a year.
I have had my nook for just over two years now, with relatively few problems. However, a couple days ago, my nook froze as it was syncing with my computer and has not responded at all since. It is not responding to any buttons or being plugged in. Does anyone know of anything I can do to save it????
Hey guys, I have the first edition Nook and I have been having some trouble with it. The Nook refuses to download any of the books that are in the library and i'm not sure why. I have Wifi in the house and it's connected to the Nook. Not sure what could be the problem. It has the latest updates and everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My Nook HD won't get past the loading part of turning on. It sits on 99%. What can I do to fix it. I've had my Nook since Christmas. My son was playing a game on his profile when it started restarting itself and now it won't turn on. I put it on my charger and it acts like it's going to turn on but never gets past loading to 99%
Problem: When I log into My NOOK it seems to try to load, but only returns a totally blank page.

I have always been able to pin items from Pinterest on my NOOK- however, as of a few days ago-whenever I try to do anything on Pinterest (pin or open my boards)- it simply stays on the same page that it originally opened. Any suggestions or ideas?? I use Pinterest a lot for my job so I really need to be able to access it. Thanks so much!!-
