I have always been able to pin items from Pinterest on my NOOK- however, as of a few days ago-whenever I try to do anything on Pinterest (pin or open my boards)- it simply stays on the same page that it originally opened. Any suggestions or ideas?? I use Pinterest a lot for my job so I really need to be able to access it. Thanks so much!!-
Cannot open Shop on either Nook HD+ or Nook Color. Try to download free Friday book on web page and it says I already own the book. Which I do not. Tried to add free Friday app to my online shopping cart. Says my cart is empty! My wi-fi is working, so must be a BN issue. Hope you are working on it because I would like this week's free Friday items! Thanks!
I have been unable to successfully use Twitter since the 2.1 update. The app keeps disappearing. I cannot find it to uninstall. However, Google Play keeps wanting to update it. When it is updated, it will appear and function for about 24 hours. Then it is gone again, even if I don't turn off my HD+. This is very annoying. I finally get a Twitter app that I can change the font size, then it will not continue to work.
Just purchased Sue Grafton's O IS FOR OUTLAW. It's the right book, but has the L IS FOR LAWLESS cover. Is there any way this can be fixed? Thanks!
I haven't been able to view my wishlist for about a week. At the wishlist screen, the loading circle just keeps twirling and the list does not appear. I'm using the Nook Color 1.4.3 software. Any ideas on how to correct the problem? Also, it would be great to be able to import the wishlist from the Nook Color to the Nook HD. Thanks!
I am currently reading The Zombie Survival Guide on my Nook Simple Touch. This book has a number of lists that are all intended to fit on one page. Some of these lists are longer than one page size on the nook simple touch. Rather than extending to the next page, these lists are simply cut off.
I want to buy Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. The price shows $1.99 (matching Amazon's current price), but when I go to buy the book, I get a message I will be charged $4.35.
Does anyone else have issues with their Nook Simple Touch skipping ahead 100+ pages sometimes when turning the page forward? This happens to me quite frequently. BN advised me to de-register my Nook and that did not resolve my issue.
Any ideas? This is super frustrating!
Yesterday I purchased my first Nook Book. But when I went to the B&N Website to download the Nook ap for my PC, I found two options:
Nook for Windows 8
Nook for Browser
Now, I'm fairly sure Nook was around a while before Windows 8. What happened to the Windows XP / Windows 7 installations?
When I tried to use the Browser version, no matter which browser I used (I tried IE, Firefox and Opera all three) I got the message "Oops! Can't download to this browser!"

I had to actually come to this forum and dig into the archives to find a link to the standard PC version of Nook. My question: why wasn't that link place right on the Nook software page?
A thought: When someone buys a Nook Book, it seems to me they're going to want to be able to read it. ; )

Cosmetic bug.... Nook hd+ post play.... Random tiny squares and pixels around bottom of Your nook today button when not activated..... To resolve just do an activity that causes the display to refresh or sometimes opening your nook today screen will resolve it. Its intermittent. Also some apps show white text on grey background in some app settings/preferences menus
Please, Please update the Nook Tablet, Nook Tablet users would love to use the Google Play store. I don't think it's very fair we get shafted just because there is the new Nook Hd and HD+. I paid good money for my Nook Tablet and still pay good money for my books and games that I have on it. So PLEASE give us an UPDATE!!!! Thank You
My HD+ is 2 weeks old and for the most part I am liking it. I have the newest update, it loaded when I registered it. Anyway, there are a few quirks and outright problem (I think) that I would like to share here and see if there is anything that can be done.
1. Books that won't leave the wish list if you buy them outside the wish list. I have seen this issue mentioned in other threads, but I haven't seen a resolution. The books in the wishlist show a "read" button instead of a "buy" button. When I go to the info page for the book, there is no wish list icon for me to uncheck. So my paid for book is stuck in the wish list with no way that I can see to remove it. It's annoying.
2 Duplicate books appearing without anyway to remove them. Somehow I have managed to get 2 copies of the Quick Start Guide on my HD+. Of course, I have no idea what I might have done to do that. I can't delete either one, they both give the same options, none of which are "delete". I also have a duplicate book in my wish list, one of the ones I purchased outside the list that now only allow me to read them. How did that happen? I don't know.
3. I have discovered some ebooks that are on bn.com that I cannot find on my HD+, no matter how I search. For example, the author Kris DeLake and her book, Assassins in Love. I can find it on bn.com website, and I actually have it on my bn.com wish list. But it does not show up in the HD+ store list, no matter whether I search by the title or the author.
To me, problems 1 and 2 are more an annoyance at this time, but item 3 is disturbing. It's a problem if I can't trust the store on the HD+ to have the books I want to read show up. There also appears to be a problem trusting that all pre-orders show up on the HD+. Until it actually went on sale, the book Alien in the House by Gini Koch did not show on the HD+, even though I could find it on bn.com. I haven't seen this particular problem posted by users, although I certainly could have missed it.
I hope something can be done for these issues.
I had the 1st gen nook, which died just before the 1 year warranty. Was replaced with a new Simple touch. After almost a year, had problems with screen freezing. Store support couldn't fix it even after hard reset, so was given another one.
I paid for the 2 year plan with that one.
After less than 4 months, screen freezing again!
This time, the store didn't bother trying to fix it - just gave me a 'certified' reused. Ok. AND MADE ME PAY $20.00 FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS BECAUSE IT IS SET TO THE SERIAL # AND NOT THE USER!!!!
And guess what? After having this 'certified' Nook for 3 DAYS, it is frozen again. I can't unlock. It is fully powered and still won't unlock. I did manage to get it to power down by holding the button for about 30 seconds and it is still locked.
I am totally fed up and am glad that most of the books I have on this thing were free friday or sale books, because if BN makes me pay for the two year plan again, I WILL switch to the Kindle. My husband has had his for a few years and no problems.
Give me one good reason I should stay with the Nook?
One issue im having with Chrome in the update to Googleness.. Even though its unchecked, Chrome does NOT tend to load the mobile/tablet version of websites even with the Load desktop version option unchecked... Some websites are not very usable (cough MSN/Hotmail/Outlook) when they display in desktop format... The browser option to switch formats is broken...
I have followed the update instructions meticulously, but my nook does not recognize the file or update the software. I have downloaded the update file twice, and I have tried installing it to my nook from 3 different computers with the same result. OTA update is not an option for me.
I have contacted support chat and was instructed how to install the update as I had already done according to the instructions on the update page.
While I'm overall quite pleased with the 2.1 update so fat, thre are a couple of issues I've run into.
First, the method for taking a screen shot - holding the n button and pressing volume down no longer works. I'd much rather have that functionality restored than have to resort to a 3rd party app.
Second, on my Nook Color, I had purchased QuickOffice Pro, but lost access to that app when moving to the Nook HD. After the 2.1 update, The Play store lists Quick Office Pro as compatible with the Nook HD.
What I want to know is why hasn't this app been approved by B&N for use on the Nook HD? I do not intend to buy the same application twice, especially when the same app is 3 times the price on the Play store.
Lastly, and this may be more of an issue you need to work with Google on, is that the icons for apps in the Play store are for the most part, noticeably lower resolution than the native nook app icons. The look blurry by comparison. It's a minor annoyance, but it detracts from the nice sharp dispay of the HD. I can only imagine it looks even worse on the HD+.
If an application is disabled in Settings, it automatically re-enables itself and can't be disabled permanently. For example, if you disable Google Talk in order not to get spam chat requests, it will turn itself back on.
Just got the Nook HD+ a couple of days ago and the menus keeping popping up while I'm using it. I'll be reading and the bottom menu will pop up or the settings menu will suddenly appear. It's intermittent but quite annoying to try to turn the page or be trying to type and the menu appears and interrupts. I'm wondering if maybe I got a lemon or if this is because of the recent 2.1.0 update.
Whenever I try and open .cbz files, I get a pop up saying DRP Reader Failed.
Twitter vanishes every day and I have to reinstall it at least once a day.
Nook prompts me to update an app from the nook version to google play, but then says the app is already installed when it tries to update it. This happens with Office Suite Lite.
The wallpaper no longer fills up the entire screen on the lock screen. Instead, there is a black bar on the bottom.
I have not found all that is messed up now, but I am very unhappy with all the Google Junk that was forced down that I don't want.
My existing Games dont run now no matter what I try, so it may even have lost all my settings and make me start over, if ever it works again.
What happened to the Web Browser? What happened to all my Bookmarks/Favorites ? I do not like Google Browsers and Google Apps all over the place. I want the older Web Browser back. How do I get it back. I want the freedom to choose to use or not to use Google Apps.
I don't want to have to register or create accounts in Google or other Apps that I don't want to use. I want the freedom to choose.
You need to fix this newest software update, and give us back more control over our devices.
I posted this on another board last night but realized that this seems to be the correct forum so I reposted here.
I am trying to read a book I purchased last November. In my order status list on the website I can find the order number for the book and the status there says "in your nook library". It is not in my Nook library though. If I look online at my library it does not show up (not normally nor archived). It is also not showing on my Nook nor using the Nook reader for PC. I've erased and re-registered my Nook Simple Touch and the probably is exactly the same. It also does not show up on my wife's Nook Color, we share an account. The book is still available as a Nook Book so that is not the problem. Without compiling an extensive list to be sure, it appears that ALL of our older purchases are not showing up in the library.
Has anyone else run in to this? Any suggestions?
When I click on the Netflix button, the red loading screen comes on for a few seconds and then the screen turns grey. Have tried to reboot many times, and other apps like crackle work just fine. Been going on for a little over a week now. Any thoughts? Thanks.
im trying to pick back up on an e book i purchased about a year and a half ago. When i try to re-download the book, it says i have to purchase it from the Barnes and Noble store, only thing is im already more then half way through the book, and know i already purchased it. any suggestions on how to retrieve a VERY lost book?
I have a Nook Simple Touch less than one year old. The Quick Nav button (raised "n") has stopped working. Device is fully charged and I rebooted. The button is not stuck; it just doesn't respond when I press it. I can only wake up the Nook by lightly pressing the power button on the back but I cannot access my library or the Quick Nav menu
Since my HD was updated to 2.06, battery life has been cut in half. I'm now only getting about 5 hours of reading time, or about 3 hours of video viewing before I have to recharge the battery. If I accidentally leave wi-fi on, almost 50% of the battery charge is lost within a 12-13 hour period of not use.
Trying to shop for some new books I am unable to go to the shop and look at a list of books under many of the areas such as Fiction, Fantasy; and most of the others. Reported it and sounds like a new issue.
Because there are many apps not available for the Nook HD/HD+ we depend on the browser a lot more to access things like Facebook. This needs a little work. I'm on the current release: 2.06.
- The browser, not infrequently, either freezes or crashes/suddenly closes. When it freezes I have to restart it to get it to be responsive again.
- There are times where there is a field to fill in and the keyboard covers the field so you can't see what you are typing. There's no way to scroll so you can see or set up the screen ahead of time so the keyboard doesn't cover it. I've run into this on Paypal and Facebook to name a few.
- It can be very slow and jerky at times.
Those are bugs. Then there are usability issues.
I wish the bookmarks had an option to not show a thumbnail. At first I liked the feature but as my bookmarks grew it became a pain. I'd like ways to sort them too as well as to have folders to categorize bookmarks.
I'd even like a CHOICE of browsers - to be able to use Firefox or Chrome if I wish.
For the past week I have been dealing with a major issue regarding Nook's password security.
I changed my password on Barnes and Noble's website due to a possible email hack. After changing the password, I expected to enter it in to my nook, the nook app and the B&N app. That was not the case. I was able to download and purchase books through my Simple Touch, without being prompted for my new password. I was not asked to add my new password to the apps and they downloaded books as well. I rebooted the device and apps and they still did not require the new, updated password. They recognized the email address and that I had used the app before and functioned normally. This means that any device that may know my email address can upload or purchase books without requiring a password.
I have called several times this week only get the run around. I changed passwords (again) on the phone and they all told me that they can see books downloading, regardless of the new passwords. I was told there is nothing they can do and that someone should be working on it.
I ended up talking to three different managers throughout the week and all of them said I would get a call back in 24-48 hours... Each time, after three days of waiting, I ended up having to call back. In the meantime, my account is open to people that may know my email.
If you use the apps or have a Nook, I suggest you make sure this isn't happening to you too.
I manually updated my NST to version 1.2.1 last night. This afternoon I bought 3 books, 2 pre-orders and 1 allready released. When I tried to download the released book it said "connecting" and stayed there. Since I have never seen "connecting" before I thought it had to be the update. When I came to the boards to see if anyone else was having trouble with the update I saw one person had suggested doing a factory reset. I have done so THREE times now and it still says version 1.2.1! Only now I can't read ANY of my books as they ALL say "connecting"! Since I read almost a book a day this is very upsetting. I am very disappoited with B&N right now.

Even when using publishers defaults I have problems with overlapping content, pages being cutoff, and some pages even have a blank column on the right... Have tried setting publishers defaults on the HD+, archiving/cloud and redownload the book... and it hasn't resolved.. Really would like to see it fixed. Thanks
Is anyone having an issue when trying to a paragraph the highlight selection skips lines and forcing you to highlight things you dont want. I find it very frustrating and ridiculous that I spent all this money on a textbook and the highlighting feature doesnt work correctly. I am running a Macbook Pro Retina with Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Please if anyone knows how to correct this let me know. Thanks.
This is my first post to the B&N Community. I bought my Simple Touch two months ago. The power button did not operate properly and I was not able to even get to the internal instruction manual. The store replaced it with a new one. This worked fine until a few weeks ago when I briefly had problems with the button again. A few days ago I had problems turning it on again. Has anyone had similar problems? Can anything be done about this problem?
