Have to load both the google play facebook apps and keep the original nook facebook on the HD+
Cannot update Google Play Music to the Play store version of the app, which allows chromecasting
Also cannot update the nook native twitter to the current Play store version of twitter...
Most other apps will allow you to install *both* versions* or one version (google play) will let you install over certain Nook apps... (facebook and many of the google native apps will let you overinstall)
Ideally i think the nook needs to be refreshed up to a current gen of Android esp with 4.4 allowing performance improvements for lower spec devices.. theres still quite a few glitches in 2.1.1 with menu appearances, touch sensitivity, sync issues, even after a full factory restore... Also the nook doesnt seem to know how to make icons dissapear that use a registration app.... even with a reboot.. (I.E if you buy certain apps, they are used to verify registration payment and their icons are supposed to vanish from the screen on reboot.. they dont)
I think this would be a great idea, not only for ease of access, but to show potential Nook buyers that there is a community out there. Otherwise, you feel disconnected and wonder if anyone else owns the device. BN should be proud of the bookclubs and tout them.
This primarily occurs on graphic-heavy items such as digital comic books. The page display arbitrarily switches between expanded and full page views, jumps within the expanded page, skips forward or back one or more pages, Additionally, when the page is on expanded view, it occasionally locks into position, so that you cannot hold and drag the image to see another part of the graphic page. This occurs whether the unit is fully discharged or 75% or more discharged, and when the behavior begins, the battery discharge appears to accelerate, so that when this behavior begins to occur, a fully-charged unit may need recharging after one hour of use. A hard reset doesn't appear to help, nor does cleaning the screen. The behavior is inconsistent, but appears to be more frequent if the unit has been in frequent use during a day. The same issue does not occur with text-based products. This is very annoying, and makes the Nook Color almost unusable for my primary purpose.

Open a book (any book). Hold on any *complete* word for a moment, and it will show as "selected"; at the bottom of the interface, you'll have options to Highlight, Add Note, Share, or Look Up.
Browse to a page, or adjust your text size settings, so that you see a work that is hyphenated at the end of the line (right side). Try to select either side of the word, and you'll find it impossible. You can only highlight the word by bumping or decreasing text size. Users should be able to highlight text-wrapped words.
With my font settings, I see about 150 words on an average page; of these, about 5 are typically auto-hyphenated. This means I can't readily use the dictionary for about 3% of the words I see at any given time.
Since the update that gave us Google Play access (2.06, I think), my son's Nook HD has filled up with apps because we are unable to leverage the SD card to offload apps from primary memory. What is the timeline to provide support for App2SD? I see little sense in having an SD card slot if it can only be used for personal music and other files.
I even went to my local B&N store where the Nook person called Nook Support directly while I stood nearby. It was confirmed that there was no way to do this today - either via app or native software coding, but this phone tech had no idea if an update to permit this was in the pipeline. However, they did note that this was something that was being asked about since Google Play came into the fold.
Related to this, you guys need to do a better job of making your timelines for software changes known - especially since B&N has decided to stop future Nook hardware updates. If you want us to use your ecosystem, you need to be more transparent in a public manner instead of digging through comments here in these forums.
We believe there may be a bug introduced to the default launcher in the 2.1.1 update.
Our app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adsi.kioware.client.mobile.app) uses two different launchers. The problem is that regardless of which launcher icon you click on you always get the one activity.
Note: I wouldn't suggest testing using our app. It's a kiosk app and will lock you out unless you know how to exit. See below...
To confirm our suspicions we also tried it using Google+ which also uses two different launchers icons. "G+ Photos" and "Google+" both launch into the exact same screen when "G+ Photos" is obviously suppose to go into the photo's section of Google+. The icons worked correctly on a Nexus 10 and a Galaxy S3 but did not on the Nook HD+.

When opened, 3 of my books open up to completely different authors and stories - on my Nook and PC. I have contacted Customer Service more than several times and I get the same disingenuous response each time - "the problem lies with the eBook file itself" - while it is great that BN's "Content Team" knows that the problem is with THEIR formatting, they don't fix it! In the same e-mail they ask for my patience and say it will be fixed within 1-2 weeks. Really? Not true!!
This weekend, I've been rereading some older books, namely anything by Philippa Gregory. I decided that I wanted to reread 'The Red Queen' earlier, and tried to find it on my Nook HD. Lo and behold, it has disappeared from both of my Nooks, my iPhone app, and my online archive-- it's no where to be found. I'm not sure if I'm missing any other books, right now I'm too angry to even begin to wrack my brain for that information. I know that I purchased that book right after it was released in 2010, and I know that it was on my Nook[s] earlier this year. But because the purchase is so old, I can't find the order number on my account page.
Needless to say, I'm pretty infuriated right now. I'm willing to repurchase, as it's on sale for $6-- but how many more of my ebooks are you going to delete without my knowledge? Am I purchasing these, or is this just a library, and I'm paying to borrow? Stop updating/messing with my library without letting me know!
Whenever updating twitter from to the most recent version via the play store, the update will uninstall after turning on the wifi later and the library syncs. With the nook version of twitter this is less noticeable since the twitter app version is 4.1.7 and not 4.1.8. Please fix.
I have the nook tablet and it worked great. About a month or so ago I started having problems when connected to Wi-Fi. Works great when its turned off. No problems reading books or any non Wi-Fi needed apps. But when I turn on Wi-Fi its fine for a few minutes then it starts to "wig out". It just randomly starts opening pages. Then it will say "battery critically low" even if its fully charged then just turn off. Once I turn Wi-Fi back off its fine again. Any suggestions?
All of a sudden, my nook seems frozen on the "drag to unlock your nook" screen, I cannot even turn it off...cannot slide to open, nothing. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what I can do to fix it? I even tried putting it on the charger to see if that would pull up the "charging" screen..nothing. I really want to read the two new books I purchased a few days ago, but cannot do anything. Very frustrating,..I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone has. If it had batteries, I would pull them out and start again, but no such luck.....Help!! BW
I have the Nook app on my android phone and a Nook HD. Recently I noticed that a favorite book of mine had disappeared off my phone app. It still shows up on my Nook HD. It is also missing from my library on the website. I did not delete it. Again it is a favorite of mine. I bought is a few years ago and would rather not have to buy it again, especially since the price of that book has doubled. It would not be a big deal but I don't carry my Nook all the time. I am afraid it is going to disappear off my Nook too. I have deleted the Nook app and reloaded it, with no change. I have synced with no change. They are charging $16.99 now for this book and I originally paid $7-8. Because I purchased it so long ago I can't even find a record of the purchase.

Every time I open and attempt to read the latest issues of my magazines, it crashes my NOOK for PC. I am allowed to get a few pages in then CRASH! and the following message appears:

The new issues of both Analog and Asimov's magazines are missing their cover art, both on the web pages for the magazines (linked) and on downloaded copies. The cover art does appear within the epub file once you download it, but won't display in the issue list on the Nook.

Yesterday 48 NEW pornographic titles (a few examples: Threesome with Daddy, Lesbian Sex, ...) showed up out of the blue of my two nooks. Looks like some sort of advertising. I am extremely annoyed, especially since one of the nooks is used by my young son. Customer support told me that they push what seems to match my interest. None of the books that I purchased in the past even remotely suggest any interest in this type of "literature". I am not even sure that this practice is legal. For now I deleted them (they show up in the archived section). Tedious work, as they have to be deleted one by one...
Has this happened to anyone else?
I have allowed Google Play in my son's profile and have set the shop up so that a password has to be entered with every purchase. about 6weeks ago the app will not load on his profile. I have purchased several movies and shows for him and now he can't watch them unless he uses my profile. I get a box that says "Google Play has stopped working" and then I am given the option to close or report. I report everytime, have changed the settings for his profile and nothing has worked. Incredibly frustrating.
#2 if I leave WiFi on while, when I read a book, without fail, everytime my Nook will update and reboot the whole system. When not reading it will also reboot at times, but it happens at least once a day where it restarts the whole system and is not uncommon for it to happen up to 3 or 4 times a day. I called customer support and they gave me the runaround about it and nothing she said made sense. I am highly disappointed in myself for purchasing this since I am unable to even enjoy it. Any help is fixing these problems is welcome, otherwise I am returning and requesting a full refund, including all purchases made on the device, for the device.
Add an icon to the e-mail trash folder to delete all of the items in trash. I have over 20,000 items and it's just not realistic to flag each item, 25 on a page, for delete. A "delete all" is really needed.
I bought 4 books and they didn't load at that time in my nook 3G. I've tried to download them and every time I get bars showing the signal is good but I get a popup that says I need to check connectivity or it said download starting and then download queing. Whats with that?
I am requesting (politely & nicely) someone from the Barnes & Noble support team to address this problem and let us know what the heck is going on with us not getting a magazine download?

I have over 300 books on my nook and as many as 25% of them give me this message when I try to open them, "We're working on making this title available on NOOK® for Web. In the meantime, read it on our free NOOK Reading Apps." 1. I do not want to read on my computer 2. Why was I sold a book (many books, actually) that have not been configured to work with my nook? How soom will these issues be fixed as there are many books I'd like to read but cannot because the title is "not available". If you are selling a shirt in a store but the buttons do not work, do you sell the shirt and tell the customer you are working on it? Then why would you sell ,many non-working nooks and tell me you are working on fixing them so I can read them with my Nook? It doesn't make sense.
Also, I put a $50.00 credit card on my b & N account so I could buy nooks but it does not use my gift card - it pulls payment from my credit card instead. I thought it was supposed to pull payment from gift cards first. Why am I having issues with that as well?

When I am in the shelves of my Library, I touch the edit button on any shelf to add a book to the shelf and the Nook changes the page I am on. SO FRUSTRATED!!! I am getting ready to go back to my 1st edition. I have had this Nook Simple Touch less than a year.
I have had my nook for just over two years now, with relatively few problems. However, a couple days ago, my nook froze as it was syncing with my computer and has not responded at all since. It is not responding to any buttons or being plugged in. Does anyone know of anything I can do to save it????
Hey guys, I have the first edition Nook and I have been having some trouble with it. The Nook refuses to download any of the books that are in the library and i'm not sure why. I have Wifi in the house and it's connected to the Nook. Not sure what could be the problem. It has the latest updates and everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My Nook HD won't get past the loading part of turning on. It sits on 99%. What can I do to fix it. I've had my Nook since Christmas. My son was playing a game on his profile when it started restarting itself and now it won't turn on. I put it on my charger and it acts like it's going to turn on but never gets past loading to 99%

Cannot open Shop on either Nook HD+ or Nook Color. Try to download free Friday book on web page and it says I already own the book. Which I do not. Tried to add free Friday app to my online shopping cart. Says my cart is empty! My wi-fi is working, so must be a BN issue. Hope you are working on it because I would like this week's free Friday items! Thanks!
I have been unable to successfully use Twitter since the 2.1 update. The app keeps disappearing. I cannot find it to uninstall. However, Google Play keeps wanting to update it. When it is updated, it will appear and function for about 24 hours. Then it is gone again, even if I don't turn off my HD+. This is very annoying. I finally get a Twitter app that I can change the font size, then it will not continue to work.
Just purchased Sue Grafton's O IS FOR OUTLAW. It's the right book, but has the L IS FOR LAWLESS cover. Is there any way this can be fixed? Thanks!
I haven't been able to view my wishlist for about a week. At the wishlist screen, the loading circle just keeps twirling and the list does not appear. I'm using the Nook Color 1.4.3 software. Any ideas on how to correct the problem? Also, it would be great to be able to import the wishlist from the Nook Color to the Nook HD. Thanks!
I am currently reading The Zombie Survival Guide on my Nook Simple Touch. This book has a number of lists that are all intended to fit on one page. Some of these lists are longer than one page size on the nook simple touch. Rather than extending to the next page, these lists are simply cut off.
I want to buy Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. The price shows $1.99 (matching Amazon's current price), but when I go to buy the book, I get a message I will be charged $4.35.
Does anyone else have issues with their Nook Simple Touch skipping ahead 100+ pages sometimes when turning the page forward? This happens to me quite frequently. BN advised me to de-register my Nook and that did not resolve my issue.
Any ideas? This is super frustrating!
Yesterday I purchased my first Nook Book. But when I went to the B&N Website to download the Nook ap for my PC, I found two options:
Nook for Windows 8
Nook for Browser
Now, I'm fairly sure Nook was around a while before Windows 8. What happened to the Windows XP / Windows 7 installations?
When I tried to use the Browser version, no matter which browser I used (I tried IE, Firefox and Opera all three) I got the message "Oops! Can't download to this browser!"

Cosmetic bug.... Nook hd+ post play.... Random tiny squares and pixels around bottom of Your nook today button when not activated..... To resolve just do an activity that causes the display to refresh or sometimes opening your nook today screen will resolve it. Its intermittent. Also some apps show white text on grey background in some app settings/preferences menus
Please, Please update the Nook Tablet, Nook Tablet users would love to use the Google Play store. I don't think it's very fair we get shafted just because there is the new Nook Hd and HD+. I paid good money for my Nook Tablet and still pay good money for my books and games that I have on it. So PLEASE give us an UPDATE!!!! Thank You
My HD+ is 2 weeks old and for the most part I am liking it. I have the newest update, it loaded when I registered it. Anyway, there are a few quirks and outright problem (I think) that I would like to share here and see if there is anything that can be done.
1. Books that won't leave the wish list if you buy them outside the wish list. I have seen this issue mentioned in other threads, but I haven't seen a resolution. The books in the wishlist show a "read" button instead of a "buy" button. When I go to the info page for the book, there is no wish list icon for me to uncheck. So my paid for book is stuck in the wish list with no way that I can see to remove it. It's annoying.
2 Duplicate books appearing without anyway to remove them. Somehow I have managed to get 2 copies of the Quick Start Guide on my HD+. Of course, I have no idea what I might have done to do that. I can't delete either one, they both give the same options, none of which are "delete". I also have a duplicate book in my wish list, one of the ones I purchased outside the list that now only allow me to read them. How did that happen? I don't know.
3. I have discovered some ebooks that are on bn.com that I cannot find on my HD+, no matter how I search. For example, the author Kris DeLake and her book, Assassins in Love. I can find it on bn.com website, and I actually have it on my bn.com wish list. But it does not show up in the HD+ store list, no matter whether I search by the title or the author.
To me, problems 1 and 2 are more an annoyance at this time, but item 3 is disturbing. It's a problem if I can't trust the store on the HD+ to have the books I want to read show up. There also appears to be a problem trusting that all pre-orders show up on the HD+. Until it actually went on sale, the book Alien in the House by Gini Koch did not show on the HD+, even though I could find it on bn.com. I haven't seen this particular problem posted by users, although I certainly could have missed it.
I hope something can be done for these issues.
I had the 1st gen nook, which died just before the 1 year warranty. Was replaced with a new Simple touch. After almost a year, had problems with screen freezing. Store support couldn't fix it even after hard reset, so was given another one.
I paid for the 2 year plan with that one.
After less than 4 months, screen freezing again!
This time, the store didn't bother trying to fix it - just gave me a 'certified' reused. Ok. AND MADE ME PAY $20.00 FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS BECAUSE IT IS SET TO THE SERIAL # AND NOT THE USER!!!!
And guess what? After having this 'certified' Nook for 3 DAYS, it is frozen again. I can't unlock. It is fully powered and still won't unlock. I did manage to get it to power down by holding the button for about 30 seconds and it is still locked.
I am totally fed up and am glad that most of the books I have on this thing were free friday or sale books, because if BN makes me pay for the two year plan again, I WILL switch to the Kindle. My husband has had his for a few years and no problems.
Give me one good reason I should stay with the Nook?
One issue im having with Chrome in the update to Googleness.. Even though its unchecked, Chrome does NOT tend to load the mobile/tablet version of websites even with the Load desktop version option unchecked... Some websites are not very usable (cough MSN/Hotmail/Outlook) when they display in desktop format... The browser option to switch formats is broken...
I have followed the update instructions meticulously, but my nook does not recognize the file or update the software. I have downloaded the update file twice, and I have tried installing it to my nook from 3 different computers with the same result. OTA update is not an option for me.
I have contacted support chat and was instructed how to install the update as I had already done according to the instructions on the update page.
