Victor, more info, please. Are these B&N epubs? Sony epubs? Kobo epubs? DRMed epubs or not?
Did you install/open the epubs in a computer reader program like Adobe Digital Editions or Sony Reader so that you know the files are not corrupted? Did you sideload the epubs through ADE or Calibre or simply drag and drop the epub files from a folder on your computer to the NOOK?
Tell us more and I'm sure someone on the forum can and will be glad to help you.
I picked up a couple epub books and sideloaded them onto my Nook. They do not behave as a regular book. The file has the usual meta-inf, oepbs directories and the mimetype file. I uncompress the file I downloaded and then sideload it to my Nook. No matter what directory I load it to I can't read it. In one case when loading to My Files I am told the book is in an unrecognizable format. When I load it into the base directory I see separate .pdf files for each page. How do I get this thing to load as a normal book?
What do you mean you uncompressed the file. If it is a standard ePub you don't need to uncompress anything, just add the ePub file as it is.
