    Brand New Free Nookbooks Thread

After considerable thought (and more than a few squabbles with the voices inside my head), We've decided to offer a new thread for posting free nookbooks.    We  are not entirely sure a new thread  is needed but at least one of  the voices (let's call him Steve) is convinced  it is.   Since Steve is usually in charge of the remote control to the TV the rest of us tend to let him have his way.

Steve further contends the thread should have no rules except those created (and sometimes enforced) by the good people who run the site.  However, Steve did admit a few notes might be helpful so here they are:

      •  At the time of posting, the book really should be free. Not cheap. Free.
      •  A link to the book's page is a bit more helpful than simply listing the title but all efforts will be appreciated.
      • Any additional info you have time to post will be greatly appreciated, especially by Steve.
      •  Off-topic posts might cause the thread to become unwieldy and thus less useful. However, Steve believes "off-topic" is subjective and he has no intention of deciding what is and is not"off-topic.''   With one exception: Steve believes one's personal hygiene to be one's own business and that no mention should be made of it.  Ever. Anywhere.  We do not all agree with Steve.  Nor should you.

Steve also wants you to know that neither he nor the collective known as Jesla will be here every day nor does he accept responsibility for the continued maintenance of this thread.  It is Steve's gift to the community and comes with no strings.  Use it or not, as you wish.

Oh, one last thing:  Steve says "Smile!"

        • Read and enjoyed

This is a Smashwords title without a huge amount of formatting issues.   I found it to be a great read so I thought I would share.   The author has three other titles (also free, also  Smashwords)  that can be found by searching on her name. I've read three of the four and enjoyed them all. However, the one I have listed here is my favorite. The one I have not yet read is "Suddenly a Spy."

Oh and Steve is having his Chakras cleaned and could not be bothered to help me with the link so naturally I have screwed it up. I promise to fix it as soon as I can figure out how. Unless Steve gets to it first. In which case I will never hear the end of it.   :smileysad:

              Synopsis:

She's not your average crime fighter!

Meet Ivy Malone, an inconspicuous older woman who has a mutant curiosity gene that often lands her in trouble. Unlike most women her age, she snoops and pries her gray-haired self into one hilarious escapade after another. So when vandals romp through the local cemetery, Ivy can't help but put her snooping eyes to work as she launches her own unofficial investigation.

Despite her unconventional sleuthing, Ivy soon becomes discouraged by her failure to turn up any solid clues. And after Ivy witnesses something ominous and unexplained, she can't resist putting her investigative powers to work again. Even the authorities' attempts to keep her out of danger and her nosy neighbor's match-making schemes can't slow Ivy down. But will the determination that fuels this persistent, spunky sleuth threaten her very safety?

(I don't know how to add the picture, sorry!)

                  Synopsis:

                  SHE WOULDN’T.

The institution of marriage held no attraction for Grace Ackerly. The world, she had noticed, expected nothing more from women than that they be submissive, demure brood mares, allowed absolutely no rights or even opinions of their own.  And yet, at twenty, an age at which most of Society considered her well past her prime, she need only wait a little longer to be safe. No—she was fairly comfortable declaring—she would never marry, no matter the temptation set before her.

                  HE WOULD.

With a flashing green gaze potently combining warmth, humor and seductive promise, Trevor Christian Caldwell was resisted by few women. When one factored in the earldom of Huntwick and his legendary charm, his conquests became all the more indubitable. But never had there been a woman he truly respected. Not until now. Here, in Pelthamshire, a spirited redhead forced a decision he had never before considered: He would marry Grace Ackerly, no matter what protestations, no matter what travails.

It was yet to be seen who would prevail.  And how.

                        LAGAN LOVE

If you know something about passion, and desire, and giving everything to live your dreams then leave your world behind for a while. Come with Janice to Dublin, in the mid nineteen-eighties when a better future beckoned and the past was restless, whispering in the shadows for the Old Ways.

Janice has grown tired of her sheltered existence in Toronto and when Aidan leads her through the veils of the Celtic Twilight, she doesn’t hesitate. In their love, Aidan, Dublin’s rising poet, sees a chance for redemption and Janice sees a chance for recognition. . . .

. . .Lagan Love is a sensuous story of Love, Lust and Loss that will bring into question the cost we pay for our dreams.

Sensuous. . . Lust . . .?  I haven't read the sample yet, so this might be a horrible bodice-ripper.  I thought it might be a nice rainy afternoon read, though.  :smileyhappy:
