    Nook Application for Blackberry?????

I would really like to know why the hell every damn device under the sun has a Nook app and is getting an update, but when it comes to the Blackberry......what are we just screwed or what....not everyone wants to be stuck owning a POS iphone or ipad or whatever.  I have a Blackberry, its a smartphone so why the heck am I stuck with the out of date e-reader application instead of getting a current version of the Nook app for blackberry.  It sure as heck isn't because of the android OS, cause not all the devices that have the nook app have the android OS......I would really love an answer, but I seriously don't think that I will get one.  Unless it is a smartass answer from someone who has no clue.

Sorry folks but I find it very frustrating that the Blackberry gets NO support.

I've given up on my WinMo phone getting an app at all.

I totally agree. I would love to be able to sync books on my Nook with my Blackberry. And I don't understand why Blackberry is stilled called the ereader app when every other device is getting the Nook name and receiving updates. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Are you kidding me?  Did you even bother to read the first post listed?  We have the bloody ereader app version 1.0.7 for the Blackberry you moron, but it no longer supports most new ebook purchases.  Before you post you should really read what you are posting to.  We can purchase new ebooks with the ereader just fine but we are not able to download and read them from the ereader for the Blackberry.

Actually, if you want to update to a newer Blackberry, like the Bold 9650, the app is not available at all. I can not download it from the bn website, nor have any of the other mirrored sites I've found work.

Why is the Blackberry being shit on?

Because Android is now the goto OS.

I just got the email today--WTF?  My BB is my only internet access.  This totally stinks.  Crackberry forums is blowing up over this.  I say we bombard BN w/emails/calls/snail mail protesting this ludicrous decision.  And if they choose not to continue support, I MOST DEFINITELY WONT be getting a Nook!  I've been trying to save up for one, and using my BB in the meantime.  I've spent quite a bit of money w/BN on ebooks, sad it appears to all be wasted. I'll get a different ereader if they don't continue BB support.  I LOVE my BB, I don't like Mac/Apple, and don't plan to switch (unless RIM does end up going under, hope to heck they don't).   And was anyone here able to figure out how to "sideload" your books onto your BB?  I found NO information from the links provided in the email, other than to DL to PC, which I do not have.  I did see a few people recommend saving to SD card, but I've got way too much for that.

I have a Nook, but when it comes time to replace it, I'll most likely be getting a kindle. No B&N app for the Blackberry playbook plus this stupid crap with the blackberry app has just soured me on B&N. I just don't get it, and now they won't be getting my money. I love my Blackberry, and I do not want an apple or android phone and I don't plan to get one. Likewise, I will patronize businesses who don't go out of their way to pretend Blackberry doesn't exist.

I attempted to sideload a book to my phone app last night, and it didn't work. The email said October 5th, so I'm wondering if they are going to do some kind of update between now and then to make this work.

                        • Re: Nook Application for Blackberry?????

If anyone is out there, I've been a huge B&N supporter since mom & pop bookstores went the way of the dinosaurs... at least there was ONE company out there who actually gave a (little bit of a) damn about books, reading, and about keeping up to date with new technological advances.

I bought one of the FIRST Nooks, have ALWAYS referred people to the B&N Nook family instead of the Amazon mega-giant's original, bland, Kindle.

I had planned to purchase either the new touchscreen Nook or the Nook Color within the next few months.

However, I also recently bought a BB Torch 9810, LOVE the phone, it is amazing (wish it had more support, of course), and have been "using" the B&N eReader App that works for about 20% of the books that I've purchased...  Then I get an e-mail from B&N saying they will be discontinuing almost all service to the BlackBerry??

I am now planning to buy a Kindle, will stick with Amazon (cheaper and you can buy Christmas presents, groceries, electronics, etc. online as well) and use the Kindle App for BB...  Thanks for the lack of support, lack of explanations, and the lack of class, Barnes & Noble.  Anytime I want a book from now on, it will be Books a Million or ANY other bookstore than yours; I will make a concerted effort to drive out of my way to avoid your store.

                          Sincerely,

A disillusioned, once-proud, ex- supporter of Barnes & Noble

                          • Re: Nook Application for Blackberry?????

I am a prolific reader that purchased all of my books via B&N prior to receiving that email.  (As did my children, siblings, mother, etc.)  I am a very happy BlackBerry user and will not be changing devices, but I sure will be changing where I purchase my books!  B&N will not get another penny out of me and I will never enter their store again.

Even if there was some technical reason for stopping support (which I don't believe as I personally know several people that develop apps for BBs and have asked for their opinion), they way they did it - with half-as*** directions and almost no notice - I find to be very poor business practice.  Maybe they won't miss me as a customer, but I will definitely be passing the word to everyone I know and feel very sure that they will lose multiple customers just from me.

                              Hi All:

I wanted to reply to your posts regarding our recent Blackberry update, clarify some of the details, and provide additional resources for support.

As you may be aware, with the update on October 5, 2011, customers are no longer able to purchase new B&N digital content via the BN eReader for BlackBerry software. All digital B&N content purchased after that date can be sideloaded onto customers’ BlackBerry devices.  All B&N digital content purchased prior to October 5, 2011 will remain accessible and available for download. After December 31, 2011, any B&N digital content that has not been downloaded to the customer’s Blackberry can be sideloaded to the device.

For help with sideloading and emailing files to your Blackberry, please follow the link below and scroll down to the section regarding sideloading and emailing files to your BlackBerry:  http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ebooks/help-faqs.asp#installation.  If you have any further questions or require technical support,  please feel free to PM me and I will be happy to point you in the right direction.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Please know that we will continue to support our customers using Blackberry devices, and are pleased to offer free NOOK software for a full range of popular devices. Just as confirmation, I too experienced the issue of not being able to sideload books from my library into my Blackberry because my BB cannot read the epub files; after a long conversation with helpful woman at B&N, it was determined that indeed the sideloading does not work and BB will not support the epub files and they are not going to bother with BB anymore (even though they still advertise books online as being "for Blackberry eReader"). Basically this is a dead issue, therefore B&N has lost me as a customer. :smileysad:

Thank you Barnes and Noble for letting me waste $19.99. I can't even side load my purchase on to my Blackberry. I will now no longer purchase from your company ever again and I will be purchasing a Kindle.

Wow! This is really disturbing. I - like so many others in this thread - have been a loyal fan and supporter of B&N from day one of the NOOK. I too chose the original NOOK over the early kindle because of B&N's apparent support for it's customers. I stuck with you through all the freeze ups of NOOK one. And when the NOOK Color came out, I bought in early. And I went through the rumors and delays - staying loyal while waiting for the updates that would bring apps to the NOOK. And one of the good things about being a loyal customer was the support B&N gave my Blackberry. I could always have my library with me even when it wasn't convenient to have the NOOK or my iPad (with a NOOK app. I never buy from iTunes) Just reach to my hip, grab my Blackberry and read. Down time in the doctor's office, or at a track meet, or during break time at work. Six days ago, I bought the NOOK tablet - the first day it was available at Staples. Think about it. That's over $700 in hardware I've purchased and at least another $200 in books and apps. And only today did I find out that I can't use my Blackberry to read new purchases - after another $6.99 purchase - a Christmas book purchased specifically to read on my Blackberry during a flight to California. (My wife and I share an account, so for the last few months, I've been selecting my reading from some of her choices.) Can you even begin to understand my frustration. OUR frustration - all of us anonymous spenders - dropping thousands of dollars into your corporate pocket because we believed in you - in your loyalty to us. We've been screwed by banks and by insurance companies etc. etc. Now you. And over what? How hard can it be for one company - one company who has no problem taking our hard earned income - one company that has no problem telling us how important service to us their customers is to them - one company that was on the verge of going into the toilet until thousands of loyal customers committed themselves and their money to the NOOK - to do a little thing like give us us a reliable app to use on our frigging Blackberry. It's not as if you're giving us content for free. We're still paying for the book. You've made a corporate decision to cut us loose. No. We're not heavy weights like Android users or Apple users, but we are not negligible. And we like to read. We like to read on our phones. And a lot of us will read on our phones, but, obviously, not books bought at B&N. And if we're not buying books from B&N, there isn't any need to own the new NOOK Tablet. And without a NOOK there's no need to buy apps at B&N. It's always seemed odd to me that any company can get so big, make so much profit, that they can listen to loyal customers ask for the same quality of service that they received when the company was struggling and do nothing about it. That any business could be so successfull that they could watch money flow away and not do someting to mend the breach. Who am i kidding? At my age I should know better. Why should your company be any better or different than any other greedy corporate powerhouse? Go ahead. Top off the gas tank with the $6.99 I just spent. But get your next $6.99 somewhere else. If I'm going to give my money to a greedy corporate sinkhole, I might as well find a company that at least gives me good service. I here that new Kindle Fire is pretty nice - and less expensive than the new NOOK.

I am with you on this.  I can download a kindle app for my new blackberry style but not NOOK?  I don't understand either.  i have had a problem with this for some time.  I had one on my last blackberry style and now i have exchanged it for a newer one and can't find the app to download.  is this crazy or what?

i can't afford an expensive bigger than life phone like iphones but cant get the nook app even tho i have purchased three nooks?????   not good for us who read constantly.  bahhhhhh

Kindle is on the same boat with Nook; no app for blackberry bold 9900/9930.

But guess what. You can purchase the very same books on Google Play and read them over the blackberry's web browser. its not bad at all.

These tablet manufacturers doesn't want our business, now we can take it to somewhere else.
