    Nook Color Memory questions.

Hi my husband bought me the Nook Color for my birthday this week and so far I LOVE it but I am scared that I will fill the memory to quik or somthing because the only information book that came with it was the 10step pamplet thing.

Aprox how many books can it hold before it starts getting low?

I also have pandora, will that take up memory too?

What kind of memory card do I need to get if I fill up the regular memory?

One of the books that is already on your nook color is the User's Manual. You might give it a read and better familiarize yourself on how to understand and navigate the nook. Epub books are only a few hundred kilobytes, quite a few are less than that.

Pandora is one of the "Extras" already on your nook.

Your NC has 8gb of memory! That's about 6,000 books, however you will see if you go into settings-> device info there are only 5gb available. This is because some memory is taken up for the programs already installed before you get your nook. That will also tell you when your memory is getting low. Pandora does not take up any room because you are streaming the music and the program is pre installed (part of the 3gb used).

If you do happen to run out of memory you can get a micro SD card fairly cheap from any electronics store.

If you run out of memory, just archive older books (on the B&N web site - you can unarchive them in case you want to read them again). Whatever is in your My Files, yoiu can back up to your PC and remove any files from the NC that you don't need or want right now.

I would not worry about running out of memory!

Arcona_Momma, what a wonderful gift your husband bought you for your birthday!  Enjoy your NOOKcolor.

Oh dont worry about filling up your NookColor too fast.  It  comes with 8gigs built in...that is approximately 6000 books.  You can expand that with a micro SD card to up to 32 gigs.

Pandora shouldnt really take up any memory at all, putting your own music, photo, etc on there will.

However, just put a memory card in there.  You should be fine.

You can always archive books once you finish them so that they aren't taking up any of your memory.  Don't worry, you still own them, but they are just sitting on your virtual bookshelf until you want to read them again.

                  =)

As other posters mentioned, the NC has an internal usable memory of around 5GB (approx. 5100MB). Each E-Book is usually anywhere between 5MB (for standard books with some graphics) and 50MB (for magazines). So, that will translate to somewhere between 100 to 1,000 books and this is a conservative estimate. If you read text-rich books (like novels) than this number can be as high as 5,000 books (a text-only book is roughly 1MB).

In addition, you can expand the memory with an SD card up to 32GB (an 8GB card costs roughly $25). So, with that you can expand your memory to store an additional 650 to 6,500 books (or 32,000 books if they are text-only).

Pandora is a streaming application. So it does not really 'store' the music on your sysem. So you can listen to as many songs as you want without the fear of using up memory.

Lastly, as others said, you can archive your read books, which essentially put the books back in the B&N website under your account, which you can download later as you please.

wish the 6000 was true for me.  I have 39 books in my archive and I am being told that the 1 mag, 6 apps, and under 30 books that I have in my internal memory has the thing full up.  Here I thought I would have the option of having 100's at least books at my fingertips.  I cannot get a straight answer from BN help customer service on this either.  It is back and forth.  I stated the amount that I have in my account, told them to go look at my purchases and tell me if those are truly 4gb worth of books and such but no response on it, just constant getting asked what message I get when I cannot download.  I keep telling them, the one that states there is not enough memory to download your purchase, try moving some items to archive and try again.   I just moved 10 books to archive and it is still not downloading.
