Nook HD resets to factory setting when battery discharges

      Hi,

my kids Nook HD resets to factory settings every time they forget to charge the battery.

Is it a normal and expected behaviour?

      Regards

Probably.  It's like shutting down a PC by pulling the plug.  Not a good idea.

I have never had my HD+ reset even when the battery has discharged to the point that it will not turn on until it has been connected to the charger for a significant time (15-30 minutes) so I would not say this is "normal" behavior unless the battery is being completely discharged.

The user guide for the HD+ recommends charging the Nook to 40-50% and turning it off if it is not going to be used for more than 30 days but does not indicate any problems anticipated with storage - this indicates to me that resetting is not an expected behavior if the unit is turned off, but if left on, particularly with wifi on, I would expect the battery to eventually drain to the point that settings/data are lost.  Computers have small internal batteries to preserve settings data for extended periods but once they are discharged, settings are lost. For how long are they "forgetting" to charge it? Turning wifi off would probably help but if they are forgetting to charge it, they probably wouldn't remember to turn wifi off

If you are close to a store, I would discuss this issue with a nook specialist - be sure to find a real one, not just some temp employee behind the nook counter.  If that is not an option and you don't get a better answer here, there is the dreaded call CS option.

            Good Luck!
