Why Do So Many Nook Friends Not Loan Books?

I'm rather new on Nook Friends; I have a Nook Color that was given to me for my birthday back in May. At first I was all into reading all my favorite books, but eventually I started exploring the features of my Nook. I saw the Lend Me feature, and saw that two of my Nook Friends had books that I wanted to read. When I requested to borrow them, they both refused! I said okay, maybe it was just those two. I started trying others, and everyone of them said no!!! Why are these people here if they are not willing to loan their books? They know that sooner or later someone is going to ask for a book, so if they didn't want to do that they should never have joined! (JMHO)

If you aren't looking to lend your books you shouldn't put your email out for people to add you to their Nook Friends. It's pretty annoying when someone asks you to add them to your list but they won't loan you any books.

The Friends feature is great for close friends and family, but I think a lot of people ran with it to rack up numbers like Facebook "friends".

Keep in mind that each book can only be loaned ONCE, so they're probably either reserving the books for someone they actually know (and maybe are a "friend" of), or have already loaned it out and simply can't anymore.

And remember: A real friend is someone who'll help you move.

Do books that have already been loaned still show up in the list of available books to lend? If so, B&N should add this to the (very long) list of things to fix.

Maybe it's because most "Nook Friends" are looking to borrow, not to loan???

Most of the request I;ve seen only have 2 or 3 leandable books, I have over 100, whats in it for me. I do trade with my nieghbor, but we usually just trade NOOks for a while so it doesn't matter if its lendable or not..

The "friends" thing is, like Facebook, overrated. Most of what I have seen is leeching.

Roustabout does things very similarly. I haven't seen him active here for a while, but he has a couple of NSTs that he passes around, I believe.

You could also sideload your B&N books to your neighbor's device, then enter your credit card number and name on their device (so they can't see it, if you're concerned) and read each other's books. The B&N DRM lets you do this with "real" friends.
