Apps/Books automatically being placed on center home page

I'll see if I can explain this correctly.  We have 5 screens on our home page.  I have nothing on my 1st page, the 2nd page has my games, the 3rd page (center or what I like to call home) has the current book I'm reading, the 4th page has some apps I use frequently and the 5th page has books to be read.

I put the specific items on each page by tapping at the bottom part of my screen to have the screen come up that allows you to pick and choose what you want on that page.  It works great.

However, whenever I download a new app or a new book, it automatically places it on the center page (3rd page).  When I "remove it from home" and then place it on the page I want (whether I drag it or use the function that allows you to do this), it still will be on the center - home page.  When I "remove it from home" it also removes it from the actual page I want the icon to be on.

What gives?  It works fine for stuff I already had on my Nook, but with new stuff, it keeps putting it on the center - home page - and the icon is HUGE.  The other icons are small.

Is there something I need to change to make it not do that.  I want to be able to tell it where I want my icons to be.

did  you know you can open settings (from the home page top right corner, then "home settings")

there are a couple options there with explanations, tick the one appropriate to you, and then repeat the process you mentioned.

I believe if you tick 'inbox' instead of 'active shelf' this may help.

          dunno, let me know

I'm guessing that you are referring to the "Carousel" area (top half, center page).

The carousel is configered to show recently accessed books/apps from center to the left, and shows new/ unaccessed items toward the right.

The Home Page settings allow you to control what items appear in the carousel; unchecking all will leave the carousel area empty. However, the carousel "app" is still running (being part of the home page code) so you will not be able to put your own items on that area.

Yea Baron, just what I said. :smileywink:

Actually, on the HD+ my new unaccess. are on the left, and recent on the right, but that could be my dyslexia. right?

                What PatGolfNeb said should work.

                Another option.

Go to Main Page (the 3rd screen you refer to). Then press and hold on icon you want to move to another screen and quickly move it (you should basically press and hold and move almost immediately).

While keeping your finger pressed on screen throughout, move the icon over to the left edge or the right edge (depending on what screen you want to go to).

The screen will change. Once you arrive at the screen you want to keep the icon on, just move it to the center of that screen.

This method worked for users on another thread where we were discussing something similar.
