Why are some apps for tablet only?

Does anyone know why TV.Com and Jeopardy are for the tablet only?  Is B&N trying to encourage NC owners to root?  This is ridiculous.  Jeopardy was one of the games suggested for the NC.  Does that mean that when Plants Vs Zombies is released, it will be for the tablet only?!  I feel like the first kid in the commercial where the first kid to enter the room gets no ice cream, but the "new" (second) kid gets ice cream.  It's almost like B&N is trying to make NC owners angry.

My thoughts exactly!  If they were making Tablet apps only (based on PHYSICAL capabilities) then fine..I can understand that, but I KNOW for sure that TV.com works on the NC as I had it before they changed it and before the update.  My guess is the Tablet is going to get the more "adult" oriented things while the Color gets more of the child apps-like we've been getting.

Is it possible they updated the apps in question to require more from the hardware?

If so, it would be cool if both versions were avaliable but that would be up to the Devs (i.e. support for old version)

I'm frustrated by this also. Please make Jeopardy (and all apps!) available for the Nook Color as well. There's no reason for this fragmentation.

I originally purchased the NC so that I could reduce the amount of electronic  devices and books I take when I travel (ipod, dsi xl and matching chargers).  I thought the ipad was too big and too expensive, and that the NC would be the perfect solution.  While it was great for the reading part (except for the occasional book whose text will not change to a larger size, no true night screen and no text to speech), the rest of the entertainment is still virtually nonexistant.  Most of the games are for kids and there is still no way to easily download movies or music to it.  They finally  got a good game app (Jeopardy) and it's only for the NT!  I won't be surprised if plants vs zombies is for the NT only as well.  The fact that B&N seems not to be listening to customers is starting to irritate me.  I finally gave up and purchased an ipad 2(refurbished, so it was $80 cheaper than brand new-but have to wait for it to be mailed from China).  It may be  a bit big, but at least I can have books, games and videos without a hassle (plus, the ipad 2 is much more visually impaired friendly).  It's too late to return my NC (purchased last July), so I'll probably just use it for reading at home and use the ipad 2 for travelling.

My understanding is that Nook Color runs Android 2.2, or Froyo, and Nook Tablet runs Android 2.3, or Gingerbread. The underlying operating system would control what apps you may or may not be able to use on the device, although if the TV.com app was working before and they upgraded it, it is probably just not backwards compatible. This happened with many iOS apps when it went from 3.x to 4, but the difference is you had the option of upgrading your 3.x device to 4. I wonder if some future firmware update will upgrade our Color OS or if we're going to be stuck running Froyo until we either root or get a Table.

We may be missing the true reason for blocking these apps. Is it possible B&N is trying to get us to abandon our Nook Colors in favor of the tablet without outright suggesting it? The tablet is their new focus and supporting "Yesterday's news" is not favored anymore. Just a thought...
