    Happy Barnes & Noble Customer!

I have a NST (along with a Color and HD+) and really like it.  Unfortunately, it started acting up.  It kept wanting to put itself into sleep mode and then the dialog box for powering off would appear.  No matter what I was doing, it would do this.  Even when I set it aside, it would continue this cycle of sleep/awake/power down/turn on until the battery would finally die.  And, of course the 2 year warranty expired 1 month ago. I tried re-registering it and cleaning around the screen, but nothing worked.  So, the other day I took it to my local B&N store thinking that most likely they would say "sorry" and that there was nothing they could do.  That is not what happened!  The sales clerk in the Nook department was very helpful. He took the battery out, waited a minute, and then put it back.  That solved the problem and now my NST works like it should:smileyvery-happy:

The NST doesn't HAVE a removable battery.

Did they crack open the case?

I was wondering this also. If you're careful, it's not too hard to get open, and given that the device was already out of warranty, opening it isn't going to void anything. Given that the device was unusable, it seems like opening it up was probably worth the risk (even not knowing that it would work, and knowing that they could crack one of the fairly delicate plastic nubs that holds the device together).
