The same problem for me with a simple touch; no new books, no PC downloads. I hate buying ebooks from Amazon, but things like this...

Well, I tried opening books in my Nook app for Mac and tha's not working either. I'm home sick today and wanted to start reading a new Nook book I just purchased, but oh, well, I guess I'll be using my iBooks app instead today.
As far as I'm concerned, they owe all of us a rebate on the cost of the book they're not delivering. I don't place my order and give a credit card to not get a book. Here they are, taking the money and not providing the product.
I have an error of some kind 1 out of 10 times I place an order. Suppose the Dr. had that error rate when he diagnosed your problem?
Support told me to power off NT and turn it back on. Then download the book. DO NOT delete the book and try to re-download. You will be charged twice for the book. (That's what I did, but I did get a refund...luckily)
Actually, BN didn't hestitate to refund me for one purchase of the eBook.
Apparently, after you delete a BN purchased eBook from your device, you won't be able to re-download the book unless you re-purchase that eBook again.
So, if you purchase a BN eBook for your device, don't delete it. Just archive it.....Unless you want to buy the same eBook again...and...again...and...again....
Archive = Move to Cloud and Keep for LAter.
Delete = Delete from Account and Lose Forever.
