    Quick Office pro problems

Anyone having trouble with Quick Office pro?  my excel spread sheets won't stay open.  about 10 seconds into reviewing and editing them they force close.  The error message pops up and closes so fast I don't have time to read what the problem is.  Seems to be isolated to spread sheets as I am not having this problem with other types of documents.  I have archived and unarchived the app.  I have uninstalled and reistalled.  restarted the NOOK Tablet....Can't figure it out.

Don't know but I'll be interested in reading the responses you get to your post.  I was thinking about getting this app but now I'll wait.

I have the same issue. I can open any Excel sheet and it will just close. I have been working with the help team at Quickoffice but they cannot reproduce the problem. I was almost ready to try return my Nook Tablet  before I read your post. Now I think it must be a Quickoffice issue.

I have been using Quickoffice Pro for several weeks.  I keep several Excel worksheets on it for reference.  my worksheets are not very large nor are they loaded with formulas and functions.  I am wondering if there might not be a function or formula in your worksheet that Quickoffice does not support.  Also how large are the worksheets?  Please keep us all updated on your progress.

The spread sheet is about 210 kb and is a simple budget with simple calculations.  nothing too technical.  It's good to know I'm not the only one with the problem.  I'm wondering if there is a software conflict or something.  If anyone hears anything let me know.  I haven't tried Quick Office support team yet.  I guess if I get frustrated enough I might.  or.....I'll purchase a different program from the amazon market....not sure yet.

I just opened my brand new nook tablet and started to go to work on an excel sheet that i've used for work for awhile. It's not too difficult. A couple of if- statements and adding/multipling. 10 kb file. But before i even purchased the app to edit, it crashed. Any updates that can help a new user?

I am having the same problem with my wife's new Nook tablet and this application. I thought the spreadsheet was too large so I copied just one of the tabs to a new spreadsheet but the same thing happened althought not as fast fast this time. I also added a 16 GB memory card but that didn't help either. I will be opening an incident with customer support to see if they can help.

My husband and I both got Nook Tablets for Christmas. I chose to ask for it over the Kindle Fire because I THOUGHT I understood, after reading, then reading again, and reading some more prior to purchasing the Nook Tablet would be more beneficial to me due to being able to specifically use the Quick Office Pro app with Excel for work.  Being able to read books was almost secondary to the decision because I knew the Kindle Fire would be excellent...and $50 cheaper...if that was my only criteria. So I get the Nook Tablet, immediately buy Quick Office Pro (my $15...not my company's) only to find it's a piece of crap. Oh sure, I can (re)CREATE...very laboriously...spreadsheets that I have used weekly for 10 years, but I can't email or download them and open them because....they won't open in Office Pro!  I read on one blog about one user downloading the app, registering then going in and setting up an account....only to realize I never saw any of that first!  The app opens, and I can open my Micro SD card, and I can see the spreadsheet in the list of documents.  But I can't open it, or anything else.  I went into my account and deleted the app earlier today intending to reinstall (i.e. REPURCHASE), but after reading of others having problems, too, I'm waiting awhile. For what I don't know, but it's back to paper and the copier for now. BTW, I contacted B&N Support and was told I'd have to contact the developer of the app.  Uh guys, for $250, B&N should be insisting that the developer contact its' customers who are having problems!!!!

I have been using QuickOffice Pro for about three months and have had no issues with Excel worksheets.  I side loaded three worksheets I use via the USB connection but have also used Drop Box to move worksheets to and from the Nook Tablet.  You can "refresh" your App by archiving then unarchiving it so that you do not have to purchase it again.  Anyway, I am wondering what version of Excel you are running on your home or work computer.  Are these large, complicated worksheets?  I think you will get QuickOffice Pro to work for you if you keep looking for the solution.  Keep us all informed of your progress.

Another thought:  follow the link provided by Flyingtoastr.  It takes you to the QuickOffice Pro support site.  There you can download the User Guide.  I have found it to be very useful.  After reading of your problem with the Excel worksheets I opened my copy of the User Guide and found that in general QuickOffice Pro should handle MS Excel 97-2003, 2007 and 2010 worksheets.  (XLS/XLSM/XLA/XLAM/XLT/XLTM/XLSX/XLTX are file extensions listed as supported)

Thanks for all the responses. Actually, I submitted a ticket to OP Support on 1/7/12, just heard back from them this morning. I gave them details from downloading app to my post last night and am now awaiting (again) a response. Also, I have double-checked version of Excel at home and work, and had downloaded the User Guide previously, all to no avail. Will let  you know what gets worked out.

Wow; yesterday I transferred a new worksheet to my Nook and experienced the same closing of QuickOffice Pro as reported in this thread.  The new worksheet has four graphs and a fair amount of data.  It closed two times when I attempted to scroll throught the data.  Here is an interesting result.  I enlarged the view (zoomed in) and the App did not close unintentionally.  I do not know if this is a fluke but it did stop the unexpected clousures on that worksheet.  This has me wondering if an unsupported font is at the root of this issue.

Did you ever get a solution to your problem? I'm having the same issue, and getting a response from Quickoffice has been frustrating to say the least!

Any Excel spread sheet locks up and closes shortly after it opens. Store Nook assistance could not help. I would never recommend to other law firms a Nook until they get this problem fixed.
