Plenty of memory and today everything has quit installing. Thank you! AMV is still on there and B&N said it was on my end.
        • 31. Re: Anyone have the app AMV just show up?

Here are the common things I've seen on forum and with customers

          1) An app installed and was uninstalled but in the process of installation it caused the installer to mess up.

Use the 'App Killer' app to check list of installed apps and then uninstall the LAST App you installed that worked fine and/or the FIRST app that failed to install correctly.

          2) FIRST:

Archive some books you are not going to read, and archive some apps you are not playing any more. Look to see if you have any large magazine apps or such.

          Any large downloads?

          SECOND:

          Restart Nook.

Power Off: Press and Hold power button for 20 seconds.

Power On: Press and hold power button for 4 seconds.

          *****

          3) When you go to settings page there will be two rows

          B&N Storage

          STorage for Other Content

What do both of those say?

Please write down the values i.e.

          X GB

          Y MB

          ZZ% Free etc.

That will help figure things out.

Yes. My only problem is that I cannot understand why B & N would install it on our devices without (1) telling us first and (2) perfecting it first. I initially assumed it was a Virus or a Trojan Horse. I was unable to delete it after multiple attempts. Although I considered the deregistration path that would erase everything, I have invested too much time and effort installing apps--many 3rd party-- and setting up things to start all over unless absolutely necessary. I contented myself with installing AVG antivirus and doing scans in the hope it would detect and deal with any problem. Although I doubt if B & N would even notice or care, I also held off on investing in one of the new nook hds. Thank you so much for solving the problem!

            • 33. thanks for asking

I have the NC and it just started downloading the AMV app without my permission.  I do not need nor want this app and cannot get rid of it because it's stuck in the installing loop (I really wish you people that keep insisting this happens because there's not enough memory would give it a rest-I have more than enough memory -it is either a software glitch or a server problem). Usually once you do a hard reboot and then hit the update button the problem gets resolved.

thanks for the info. This was making me crazy not knowing what this ugly grey blank page thing was.

IrishElf, based on other users calling up B&N -

                  1) It was an app that was preloaded on Nook but wasn't visible.

                  2) It is used by some magazines. It's AMV - Adobe Magazine Viewer.

                  3) Restart fixed issue for some people of App not finishing installing. However, I also read some users saying B&N support told them it is known issue (app not installing) and a fix is being worked on.

Do you know if this is causing a slow down for wi-fi? Just curious since this AMF app is in the process of downloading and my wi-fi has been slow.

                      • 38. Re: Anyone have the app AMV just show up?

Do you see 'Downloading' as the message or 'Installing'?

If you see Installing then AMV isn't using WiFi.

If use see downloading all the time then it is, and it would, in theory, use WiFi and slightly slow down general WiFi usage.

You are right !!! We need to be compensated. AMV doesn't work, they can't even delete it, we didn't ask for it, Where is B & N consumer sense? Time for a Kindle.

Your joking right? I took this as sarcasm. What really amazes me is that this thread endures. By responding I feel like I am an enabler, kind of a Larry David moment.

Are you for real? What amazes me is all the time you have for posting. Go read another book and stop your 1000+ postings. Get a real life ...

Oh, and that is so unfunny -> a Larry David moment ...   Again, get a life ...

I thought it was very funny. What PatGolfNeb wrote.

Yes, it is a Larry David moment. I miss that show. That and Arrested Development.

My Nook Color got hit with the AMV/Twitter infection yesterday. Yes, i consider it to be a currently incurable infection transmitted by malicious B&N malware. I notice that Alex never came back to offer any further info. His comment about the problem being caused by the need to upate was patently untrue because most of the afflicted devices seem to have been running the most current software version. Like most everyone else, the infection was transmitted to my NC when I went to the shop to download a new app. I have done a hard reboot and the offenders are no longer visibly downloading or installing but I am watching to see if the battery is still draining. I have the original NC from Nov 2010 with original partitioning and NO, I do not want , nor should I have to drive 45 miles to get it repartitioned because of BN's incompetence. I will still buy books from BN but the lack of software support that this device received has insured that I will never trust them to sell a functional, reliable device.
                                  • 44. Re: Anyone have the app AMV just show up?

Just checked this morning and the AMV app is still there. I clicked on it to see what it would do since it shows almost partially downloaded after several weeks of the Nook Color being left on stand-by. It appeared on the Home screen and indicated "Installing" right from the beginning again. So I deleted it from the Home screen and turned the Nook off.

                                    This is annoying!!

It should just download, install and be finished. The fact that it's either indicating that it partially downloaded/installed and then wants to install from the beginning again proves there's something eminently wrong.
