    Odd message from PubIt

We received a generic "Dear Publisher" letter supposedly from PubIt yesterday saying our royalty payment couldn't be posted due to invalid account information.  I say supposedly from PubIt because even though the address looks to be valid, the email itself just struck me as wrong.  To being with, it was sent to "undisclosed recipients" instead of to just us.  Also, it was addressed to "Dear Publisher" instead of to our treasurer as other emails have been in the past.  There was no reference to the month of the royalty in question, nor the amount.  Finally, PubIt made a deposit to our account earlier -- on the 22nd -- so there is obviously no problem with our account information (mind you, the amount was $2 and change short of what it should have been).

Has anyone else gotten a letter similar to this?  I've sent an email asking for clarification to the two addresses I have for PubIt.

      Thanks --

      Amanda

Sounds like they're phishing for your account information. Don't bite. Contact B & N from their own website and ask them about the supposed 'problem'.

I'm not biting.  I was suspicious of the email from the start.  That's why I've emailed BN about it.  Hopefully, I'll hear back soon.  Once I do, I'll post an update.

Amanda, although my email didn't say anything about lack of payment -it did talk about payment discrepancies tho' - the email I got yesterday was also addressed to "dear publisher" and the "email address box" was blank... but you are right, if u already got a payment on the 22nd, and it went into your account, then there should be no payment problems. I hope BN replies back to you and clarifies it for you. PS... so you never got a second email telling you that your royalties were deposited on the 29th?
