I avg 5-8hrs depending on what I'm doing. i.e WIFI on/off, brightness level etc.
NC is to new to know how long the batt will last. Similar batts avg 2 years with normal use(Who determines normal, right? )
More than you ever wanted to know here --->
Anybody have any info on how many hours this battery is supposed to work decently in total,
or how many times it can be charged?
Keeping the brightness down, as I mostly read in the evenings and night, and keeping the WiFi off, I get about 10 hours of reading per charge.
Typically a Lithium Ion battery can be charged about 400 times. I doesn't matter if it's a full charge, or only a partial charge. No idea on the NC's battery....but would expect about the same.
HOWEVER, the battery in the NC *IS USER REPLACEABLE* if you wish. It is not a hard task, but generally not for the faint of heart when it comes to taking electronics apart. The battery is NOT soldered to the board, but rather has a plug connector to the board.
And while, at this time, I know of no replacement batteries on the open market, my experience is that we'll start to see them late this year. Right now, every NC in the hands of a consumer is under the 1 year warranty from B&N so if a battery failed, it would be replaced under warranty (typically a unit swap). But once NC's start going off warranty, as with every other battery powered type device I've ever owned, replacement batteries will start to show up all over the place. In particular, eBay, but usually lots of other places.
Probably ~3,000-4,000 operating hours, in actual use. At that point, the battery still won't be dead, but it's lifespan per charge may be shortened enough that you'd like to replace it. And as Don commented, you likely will be able to.
