    Mighty Eagle for Angry Birds.

If you look at the details for Angry Birds after the update it says there is an Eagle available if you go to B&N and connect to their wi-fi. Looks like it is only available in-store and only for a limited time. Pretty neat that they made something extra for the Nook.

Fun other tidbit - this new version of Angry Birds includes the new world (Mine and Dine) that was just released a couple weeks ago on other platforms.

            Hi:

Just got the mine and dine update - now I have to head over to local BN for an Eagle.  Any word on when Seasons will be available?

I have updated but can't find find the details about the eagle. Exactly how did you please?

Having to go to a B&N store just to get the mighty eagle update for Angry Birds just doesn't seem fair to those of us who would have to make a long drive to get to the store.  Come on, B&N, let us all have it.

                    Might Eagle report:

OK, I guess I didn't read carefully enough. In the event that others share my original thought, let me report about the Mighty Eagle.

ME is not downloaded onto your NC, it's simply there when connected to a B&N wifi signal. The good news--it's instantly there; the bad news--it's not downloaded onto your NC at a B&N site so that as soon as you leave B&N's wifi, Mighty Eagle is gone. It only works in the store! It was also my first visit with my NC to a B&N store, so for the first time, I saw an icon that offers a 60-min countdown clock ticking backwards. I wonder if that means ME is only available for 1 hr a day just like reading ebooks in the store is.

On a more pleasant note, the ME is kinda cute. You don't slingshot the ME, you slingshot a small can of sardines--after the can settles in place, the ME swoops in and pretty much wipes out everything nearby.

All in all, it was fun to see in operation once at a B&N store but it won't bring me back to the store often in the future, if at all. I can see that if the ME is an option at any game screen, if you find yourself stuck trying to wipe out all the pigs, a trip to a B&N and a ME attack might just get you to the next level of the game.

The ME is available on my Droid after you reach a certain level.

I think it's unfair of BN to hold on to this fun feature.

I drove 24 mile round trip to bn store, got the ME update in store and got home to find it wasn't there. What a sadistic trick on bn's part!!!!!

When I go to B&N  to use the ME I only get to use it once on a level. It will destroy the level. When I get home the level is not destroyed. Any one else have this problem.

I was just at B & N and was told the Angry Bird "Eagles" free download was not working. It is supposed to be fixed within 24 hours. I'm not sure (and the stord did not know) how long the free version is supposed to be available. Anyone know?

Barnes & Noble is the first of Rovio's "Magic Places". Eventually, it's suppose to be available at other locations and on other devices besides the Nook Color.

Folks...many of you still seem confused about the might eagle.

First, you can do the update anywhere. home. office. anywhere. Secondly, ME is available after you do the updateonly while you are connected to B&N wifi. You can only use it once per hour on your hardest level. You can use it as much as you want on previously conquered levels.... while connected to B&N's wifi.

To look for updates on your NC, go to your apps page and push the sync icon on the upper left hand corner of your screen.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

Thanks for nothing B&N!! I am usually a very happy customer. I planned a whole day to go to the mall just to update my Mighty Birds to get the "Mighty Eagle." First of all, it wasn't self-explanatory how to do it so I wasted a bunch of time trying to do it on my own, then asked two different sales associates before one finally did it for me. She showed me how to use it, so I left.

NOBODY mentioned it didn't work after you leave the store!!

So I tried it at home, several levels and NO EAGLE. I had to google to see what the problem was.

So thanks for the wasted day, wasted gas and false hopes. At least if I had known it was only available in store I could have tried it out and passed the level I'm stuck on.

The mighty eagle will only work when you NOOK is connected to the BN store WiFi.

Period. This is a promotion to get people into the stores and (hopefully) spend some money, while also showcasing the new "magic places" gimmick that Rovio is working on. The version of Angry Birds you download onto your NOOK has been customized to recognize BN stores' WiFi networks, just as the NOOK itself does for More-In-Store and Read-In-Store.

This limitation has been amply documented, in the press release ("...when playing the game in a Barnes & Noble bookstore...", "While playing Angry Birds on NOOK Color in a Barnes & Noble store...", etc.), in the signage for the promotion, and by booksellers (who should know better). The banner that drops down while in the store adversities this as well.

The Mighty Eagle itself has the same restrictions for the NOOK version as other versions: you can only use it once an hour to beat a new level but have unlimited uses on old levels. The only difference between the two is the cost ($.99 for everyone except NOOK owners).

You can update Angry Birds anywhere you have WiFi - just click the little "arrows in a circle" button at the top right corner of the Apps screen of your NOOKcolor (you can also just archive and unarchive the game). Once the update is downloaded you will gain access to the Mighty Eagle any time you connect to a BN store WiFi network.

I sent B&N corporate a complaint email, I suggest everyone that feels like they got duped send one too.

I had the same problem.  Mighty Eagle at store but not once I drove back home.  I called the store and was told it should work at home.  Then I was told it should not work at home.

Called Customer Support for Nook Color.  Was told it should not work at home.  Asked for a supervisor and was told that YES, IT SHOULD WORK AT HOME.  YOU ONLY HAVE TO GO TO THE STORE FOR THE UPDATE, BUT THE UPDATE SHOULD WORK ANYWHERE AFTER THAT.

I have asked Customer Support to send me an email verifying what they told me on the phone.  We shall see.

This thread is very interesting, in terms of what people are not doing:  reaching out to the people who wrote the software.

BN, rightly, asks people with software questions to ask the developers first.  I think it's time for CS to get the memo that they need to start referring questions more firmly out to the developers, rather than trying to answer them.

From what I've just googled for, on other platforms MIghtly Eagle is a paid add-on that remains on your device.

From what I've read here, ME only works X many times per day.

Does it actually only work in the store?  BN probably does not know for sure, since it does stop working after a time, then start again.

I hope someone who has the game will write to the developer and ask for the information.

The closest Barnes and Noble to me is 90 miles away.... maybe they should mention how many things you miss out on by not living close. I can sure spend my money at their online store though. No issues there.  I had my son all excited to see the Mighty Eagle and now have to explain to him that his mom didn't read the fine print. Fantastic.
