One step forward, two steps back??

I happened to be in BN today and ask when they would be getting a color units for sale. She told me then added she had a unit to sell. It was ordered but not picked up.

I freaked and bought it. I also have a Nook 3g/wifi, and was thinking about not getting a color unit.

I had trouble getting my usb cable to fit. It finally slip in, and after spending way to much time I think I have the combination figured out. With the cable end pointing upward slightly, I slip the connectors together. Once I get part way in, I straighten the plug and it seem to slip okay. Reading other post it appears it's and issue, and BN needs to address. The new plug looks poorly made compared to my old plug. Also the cable is not very flexible, and I am worried if I read very much with plugged in, the connector will be damaged.

I have not spent a lot of time reading yet, but at first things did not look near as crisp as my old nook. Adjusting the brightness and using a different theme and it looks better, but still not like the old screen I will do some reading and see if it bothers my eyes.

Page turning works well. And I think most button features work as well if not better than O N. (old nook) I do like the color and the backlight. I have not found what I would call a great solution for portable lights for my O N.

Getting it set up was a breeze. The intro got me started well enough.

The web app seems a lot better. And for reading email and simple browsing for my needs it should do nicely.

The new apps are nice to have. Pandora worked well. The music app still wants to put everything in one directory, but it looks like it will hold it's place when it's paused so listening to a book just might be okay. I have not tried the other apps.

I like what they've done with library, but it's still not all that it could be. My ADE Library books don't show on the main screen It looks like the only directory that shows in the main library is the books directory in my files. I can navigate to them but they really should show on the main library page.

There are  things I am not happy about. I've posted my dislike of the pdf reader. Navigation needs improved in certain spots like having a back key on pages and apps. The organization of the library is a lot better but does need improvement particularly with myfiles. As with my O N, there is hope that with a couple upgrades nook color will solve most if not all my peeves.

The question for me now is whether I can read this screen for a couple hours without any problems. That's the nook colors main challenge, and it's about ready to begin.
