Shop isn't loading on my Tablet. It comes up, but the content doesn't load, and when I search for something, I get the error, "A Problem Occurred. Sorry, a problem has occurred. Please try again. If you continue to receive this error, visit nook.com/tablet/support for help".
That link yields no assistance for this problem, and I called the tech support, and they suggest I deregister and reregister. I would prefer not to do this as I have sideloaded content that I would rather not re-load on after.
Can anyone offer a fix for my Shop issue? Or, perhaps a way to minimize my re-loading pain afterwards?
Thank you in advance!
This sometimes happens when the server is really busy or when they are doing some maintenance on it. The other reason it can happen is due to a memory issue-you might need to clear things out like browser cache, cookies, histories. Or, you may want to power off completely by holding down the power button and saying you want to power it off. Android devices don't shut down programs efficiently so some processes can still be running in the background.
Generally, as a rule of thumb, tech support first contact is more like general CS and they are often giving the de-register thing as an answer for every problem. As another rule of thumb, de-registering is the last thing to try for problems before you decide that the device has a real problem because it's a royal pain to go back through setting up shelves, sideloading content, and downloading all your stuff again. Not to mention saves in Angry Birds may be gone so you have to start again.
Check the shop area again at a later time and see if it's working. Then start to try other things.
I was having the same problem last night, but if I went to the browser, the connection worked fine. I went to B&N on the web and bought and downloaded a book that way. If the shop doesn't work again, I'm just going to use the site. No way am I deregistering again - CS had me do that once and it was a pain to re-set up everything the way I wanted it. And to me, if the internet is working fine, but not the B&N "Shop" then it's probably not a problem on my end.
I had the same experience last night using my NST. And the same thing a week ago, also late at night, when it wouldn't connect to the Shop for at least an hour.
I don't think it's likely that the Shop is overloaded at that time of day, so they're probably taking it down for maintenance. I just wish that they would announce their maintenance schedule and also let their tier 1 support folks know about it. This would eliminate a lot of frustration and wasted effort.
