downloading video forever on my new Nookcolor

When I tried in store their sample works fine on youtube site but now when I play my own at home, none of the videos worked -- downloading video and stuck there. Other websites work fine for me and I have a 10Mbps WiFi connection. Any suggestions?

nope....netflix partnered with microsoft to use silverlight as the backbone of their streaming operation, so if you use a non-intel based Mac, or Android OS (which is the backbone of the NookColor) you are unable to enjoy netflix. i am able to access netflix's website to update my queue, but i can't do any streaming.

hopefully once the Nook OS is updated to allow Android Marketplace apps (and a Netflix app comes to fruition) then you (and I) can enjoy Netflix on the NookColor.

From all that has been said...the NC will NOT be opened to the full Android Marketplace.

Only the nook marketplace....available only from B&N.

I seriously doubt, (but do NOT know) that a NetFlix app will be available for the NC.

Then I guess we all go buy IPads and be done with it.  NookColor is a great product except for the Netflix issue.  On second thought, still a great product, just not what it could be.  I've also been having trouble watching primetime TV on it - jumpy and I get a message "Not optimized for mobile devices" or some such - see abc.com.  I probably just haven't figured it out yet.

Could you do more with it?  Sure.  Go with an iPad just to run Netflix?  <shrug>  If you want to ... can I have your NC if you're doing that?  :smileywink:

There are very few websites or applications that I would consider must-haves to the point of driving the entire purchase of a particular computer or electronic device and Netflix isn't one of them but obviously your mileage not only may but does vary.

                          Hi-

I'm late in the discussion here... but the link below explains how to get the Netflix app on the Nook color... but I can't seem to register my Nook with my email address associated with the device... Whereas the person on the video, clearly doesn't have any issues... any suggestions?  Thank you! SHolmes

Are you saying you are trying to view youtube videos on the NOOKcolor?  I wasn't quite sure.  Youtube and most websites use flash for videos.  Right now NOOKcolor can't play flash videos, but this is promised in the software update coming at the first of the year.

Also about netflix.  My understanding is that netflix uses some proprietary format for streaming video.  You can't play them right now.  Perhaps in the future BN and netflix will make this possible, but not right now.
