Opening local HTML & PDF files without wifi

    CaptainGuy

I've tried to open local files using various path structures.  While they all work, the NC keeps asking for a network connection.  Clicking DONE (while not choosing a network) will load the page requested, but this needs to be done at every page.  IF the page is doing some things via javascript  (like loading other local pages) , then it works fine.

I would say this is a missing functiionality, perhaps a bug, easily fixed.

If I create a menu using HTML, I cannot even open PDF files without the Network alert popping up.

I store dozens of reference manuals on the NC, and access them via a simple html menu page.  That way they are categorized and in some cases I have sub menu pages.  All is painful sans wi-fi connections.

The HTML file type assumes the use of a web browser. The Nook color probably want a WiFi connection when opening the web browser.

Why not use a PDF file for the menu?

Why not load the PDF's unto the nook internal ssd and make a library shelf for them?

EzPDF will show you PDFs by the directory they are located in.

Right.  Which is why it is broken.  That is not a valid assumption. Assuming a web browser is fine.  Assuming a non-local connection is not.

I was specifically informed by NookColor Development at B&N that I could use the web capabilities for similar functions.  Which turns out NOT to be true, in the absence of a WiFi connection (without annoying and unnecessary popups).

              I agree with CaptainGuy.

Yep!  I  set up a multipage website for my DAR chapter and had the members preview it off-line using the NC. I had to press the DONE key after choosing every link before another file would open. It was a small annoyance. I also would like to see a work off-line option for the browser.
