Thank you, AlanNJ. I think that's the hardest I've laughed all day. :smileyvery-happy:

Thank you so much for the link to LastSilmaril's post--of course I didn't think to look for a thread topic like "wireless not working"--I just looked for "update wifi unsuccessful."  It really does work!  I have a Verizon FIOS Actiontec router, too.  It looks a little scary and you might get some funky phantom keystrokes when logging in, but once you get past that, it WORKS!  Phew!  :womanhappy:

The update is fine, I haven't had any WIFI problems, BUT, I noticed that I can no longer get to the book I am reading using the small book icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Everytime I go off the screen of the book I'm reading, I can no longer just touch that icon and get back to the correct page of my book. It takes me to the cover page. The only way I can get to the last page read is to go into the library and access my book that way. Sort of annoying since it worked fine before the update. Anyone elase having this issue?

Funny. I guess. But here's another perspective. I own a Kindle 2 and am ready to upgrade. As part of my upgrade, I'm expecting more features and more advanced features than my current e-reader offers. And I came to this forum and thread specifically to learn if the browser had been completed. Not only hasn't it been improved or made official, it's been hidden or dropped entirely. So that leaves me with Amazon, Sony, or Kobo - none of which will help B&N's bottom line. I assume my desire is on the fringe, in the minority. But chalk it up as at least one lost sale.

Tysons2- I am not sure if we are a very small minority of users or those that think the Simple Touch should have absolutely no new features because it is just a "simple reader" are highly vocal, but know that you are not alone. See my posting here:

As with the many on this thread, I'm experiencing the same wifi connection issues after manually upgrading my Nook Touch to 1.1.0.  After mulling it over (reviewing the +/- of the upgrade), I reverted back to factory (1.0.0) and connectivity works perfectly with my home network (Netgear WGT624v3 router).

In addition, I have several other wireless devices on the same network/router (including a Nook Color and HTC Thunderbolt) that have no problems in connecting.

My question, does 1.1.0 not like Netgear routers?  It seems that most of the issues are with Netgear from what I've seen on this and other forums.  Just my two cents.

                  Otherwise, I love my NT!

After the new software update the activity reader does not work most of the time. I will go to a book and all I get is a blank white page. This new update is terriable. If they cannot fix this I may just have to go to the kindle.

Since I see there're a lot of people out there who want the web browser with version 1.1.0...here's how you access it:

                      1. Hit the "n" button, and go to "Settings"

                      2. Click on "Social"

                      3. Click on "Link to Facebook, Twitter, and Google"

                      4. Click on "Link Your Account" under GOOGLE <-- remember...under google!

                      5. Click "Can't access your account?" at the bottom of the page

                      6. Click "Google Home" at the bottom of the page

This brings up the google homepage from where you can search web addresses or whatever...

Don't know why you'd want to do it...I chose the nook so I could read for 15 days without charging :-P

Thanks, but this was already posted and discussed here back in December. It was without the link you gave, but I don't see any reference there to the browser workaround, so I'm not sure why you gave it as the source.

Oh well, 0 for 2...copy/pasted the wrong link and totally didn't see someone had already mentioned this...

I guess for the record though, I might add that I updated to 1.1 last night with (so far) no signs of trouble...
