I too had the same issue. I had pre-ordered a book that was to be available May 1. I tried yesterday, but it remained on pre-order - I thought I had confused the available date. This am I logged onto BN with my PC and saw the book was available and I had book available emails from yesterday. I downloaded and opened the book on my PC. The nook would still not download the book. I then archived the book from the nookcolor and then from the PC I unarchived the book. I went back to the NookColor library and let touched the update library at the bottom of the library page. Finally the Nook downloaded the book and I could open it. The book icon though still has the pre-order flag across it though, but I can read the book. Hope this helps.
I "pre-ordered" a nook book that became available for download on May 1. Whenever I click on the book, I am only getting the book information (summary page, reviews). I tried clicking the "buy" option again, but I receive a pop-up confirming that I already own the book.
I attempted to side-load the book onto my Nookcolor, but that has not been successful either.
I have pre-ordered books previously that I have had no trouble downloading upon release. This is the first pre-order I have attempted to download since the update. Could the update be the issue, or am I missing something else?
Can you provide the name of the book? I'm a little surprised that the book said available on May 1 since most new releases tend to come out on Tuesdays, which would be May 3. Not to say they didn't become available on Sunday, it's just out of the ordinary, at least for all the books I've purchased, even before eBooks. I used to go to BN on Tuesdays after work to see the new releases.
I found this thread googling because I had the same problem -- what worked for me was clicking on the book not from my library, but from the home screen (if you read the email availability notification carefully, it actually says the book is waiting on the home screen).
Archive, then unarchive the book and it will then download. I am rather upset that I have to do this, but I found out that works,
I had the same problem. Pre-ordered Christine Feehan's "Spirit Bound" two days ago, waiting on its release date which is today. Got the "download available" email at 1:33 am this morning, but the book continued to show in "pre-order" status. When I went to the online store it said I had already purchased the book. It is all very frustrating.
Suffice it to say, I was finally able to access and download the book by following the above advice and archiving then unarchiving the book directly on my Nook Color. Archiving it in my online library at www.barnesandnoble.com did not update it on my Nook Color.
I find it weird that we have to archive/unarchive to access a pre-ordered book. I doubt I will pre-order anymore books in the future, I'll simply wait until their release date and download on the spot.
