    Gallery App Update?

I realize this is an app issue rather than a specific NOOK issue, but since there is no category for talking about apps I will post here since it showcases how long this has been an issue.  Since the Stock Gallery App was released several years ago on the NOOK Color people have been complaining about the default Sort Order and the fact that it cannot be changed.  They have also complained that the App has no concept of Sub-folders.  If you copy a folder with several layers of folders within, it will take all those folders and separate them each into their own individual folders and spread them all over the Gallery making you search for each folder instead of at least having them right next to each other.  There have been numerous other apps out there that have given people workarounds to this issue, but they all involve long drawn out processes of uploading your files to the internet and recreating the folders you had them in from scratch, or sideloading the files back and forth between your NOOK and your PC, or some other haphazard means.  I think it's high time the Stock Gallery App was updated so that people could view and sort their files the way they want without having to go through all these hassles.

Do you want something just for images? or for all types of files?

I'd also like the ability to save pics received via e-mail straight from the Nook e-mail client to the Gallery app.

I was able to organize my photos in the stock Gallery by downloading the Fish Bowl Photo Gallery App, creating photo file folders and assigning photos to the appropriate file while within the fish bowl app. The file folders then appear in the stock gallery app. Folders now appearing in the stock gallery include the preinstalled "Avatars", and "Pictures", as well as "animals", ext_sd, and "Music Covers".

I was so glad I was abe to corral the music album covers into its own folder, as an album cover is created for every song. In prior versions of nook, you could add a .nomedia file to keep album covers from showing in the gallery, but I've been unable to figure out how to do this on the HD; if I add a nomedia file, the album cover also does not show in the music player.

Well yes, that's one of the workarounds I was referring to, and is something I do myself.  The point is that you still have to get a second app to do something the first app should do on it's own in the first place.  There's also the issue of re-creating sub-folders and being unable to resort the folders or the files from the default nonsensical sort order Gallery comes with
