Browser windows close unexpectedly since 1.1 update

    petesnook

Since the 1.1 update, I've had several occurrences where my browser windows would close unexpectedly.  What would happen is this: I would click on a web link in an open window (not near the borders) and the Settings screen would appear; not the Quick Settings, but the full Settings menu. When I tap the Quick Nav Arrow and then Web to return to my web sessions, all my previously opened session windows are gone and are replaced with one Home Page window.  This only happens sometimes when I tap a link, and does not happen if I deliberately bring up the Settings screen and then return to the Web.

I've fully powered-off several times, but it still occurs.

Ironically, prior to the 1.1 update, I had a similar issue with the windows closing whenever I would tap the Open Book icon in the status bar and then return to the Web.  That problem no longer occurs, but has been replaced with the occasionally occurring problem detailed above.

      Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've considered doing that, but I am trying to avoid the hassle of re-sideloading all my stuff.  I'd gladly do that if I was certain it would work, but if it's just a shot in the dark kind of thing, I'll probably wait until it starts happening frequently.  At this point, it's just occasionally.

Just so you know, it happens to me too, LOL  I also don't want to do the whole erase thing, sideloaded books/music/movies... it would take forever to get them all back on!

I'll wait for the next update, it isn't that bothersome.

Same issue here. This should not require a complete re-install all that will do is put the same version of software on again that is on right now. No guarantee that this won't happen again. The whole erase and redo mentality seems a bit Microsoft to me. This is a code flaw somewhere in the revised browser and needs to get fixed in  the next update.

You could move all your sideloaded files onto the Micro SDcard then after you de register and re register your content will be accessible on the card.

I may be mistaken but I believe you access sideloaded content the same way on the mSD as you do onboard. Someone else here can probably verify or refute that.

                        Just a thought  :smileyhappy:

This happens to me also. It did not start after the update, it only has been happening in the last week. Re-registering my nookcolor did not fix the issue.

Pete, when the first part happens next time, instead of performing the second part, try this: just swipe right-to-left in the status bar.  That's equivalent to a Back button, when no such button is available.

By simply stepping back when you get to somewhere you didn't want to go in the first place, that should preserve your state, without re-entering the browser at your home page.

I can't guarantee this will work for you, but it's worth a try, and I suspect it will.
