When I go to a foot note, the back button disappears after 10 seconds... Please don't let it disappear.   That is my only big frustration right now.

            Jeez, 20 tops.

Say what you want, the device is capable of storing them, so the device should be capable of accessing the files reasonably. :smileytongue:

Next off, the move into kids books and magazines says this device IS A PICTURE VIEWER! Finally thank you for being so helpful rather than writing off a legit concern about a feature of the device. :smileytongue: People will use devices with more than one capability to the fullest these days, so having all the features the device was meant to handle run smoothly is a must. In this day and age a single lasting issue with a device (even if it's just software, can lose it many customers). It's not like I'm hacking a new feature into the nook and whining that I broke it, it was a built in feature and therefore should be treated with the same reverence as any other aspect of the device.

It's not up to par with many other tablet or tablet like devices and only requires a simple patch to fix (especially since the Library will already let me view the files in order and the gallery will already let me scroll through the pics, so now just make both... do both). I say it's a no brainier that Barnes and Noble should spend a few man hours to solve this simple hiccup and other minor hiccups asap. The quicker the issues go away the quicker people will start fretting about the minor issues in there reviews... with Christmas just around the corner ever little thing they can do to make the device run more to customer demands can't hurt and will likely increase sales.

It's not quite a tablet, but it's more than a simple ebook reader and should be treated as such.

REALLY!!!!!!!!  I have been waiting for months for an update on my classic nook.  It was supposed to happen today but I am still waiting.

the ability to put some folders from "my documents" and our  title's from sideloaded "my document's" onto one of the homepages.

                That would be cool

on the webbrowser  and "X" out of the website window option,

otherwise, so far this thing is pretty wild.

This may already be possible, or it may never happen. But what about some kind of "family plan"?

Our local dishrag of record (newspaper) is available on the Nook. The price is a bit more than for the dead tree version, which might be OK, but...I'm not going to buy it twice, once for me and once for my wife! There should be a way to share.

You can share with other family members on one account.   ONe account supports, I do believe up to 6 nooks,(either apps and devices)  IOWS  If you have nook eink, a nook app on your Droid or iPhone, and a nook color,  that is three,

I've noticed the same problem with Facebook status posting.  It also went crazy while I was trying to FB chat with a friend, although that worked better than the status thing.

Other than that, so far I love it.

                        • 24. Re: What users want in the NOOKcolor 1.1 update

The nook color's processor is only slightly slower than the Ipad or a Galaxy Tab.

There's no real reason this can't be classified as an ebook reading oriented tablet. Especially when the app market comes out in Q1 of 2011. Ideally there will be apps probably as varied as those on the Android Market. I've got to agree that it is so much more than just an ebook reader and it should be treated as such. None of this limiting the device to just reading that'll kill the potential of device and thus keep it from being a competitor with an Ipad or the Galaxy Tab or other tablets that'll be coming out.

Plenty of people have already started comparing this with the Ipad and while it won't be an Ipad killer if B&N plays their cards right it'd become definite competition as it's half the price of the Ipad.

So what I think the Nook Color needs?

                          * App Store

                          * Sideloaded Apps (until App Store is available)

                          * Fixes to various things (like photo browsing, UI lag, etc)

                          • 25. Re: What users want in the NOOKcolor 1.1 update

More color themes or capability to create my own color scheme, I want yellow-ish text and black background.  I liked the van Gogh theme in the original eReader for iPhone.  Night reading is what sets this Nook apart from the original, so more night themes.

And let me side load apps.

ditto .... and auto shut off of pandora/music when another track is played with other pre-installed music app. i've had the NOOKcolor for about 10 hours and was surprised to see when playing through Pandora it didn't shut off when a track was selected through the other 'extra' music program was selected.

Hello, Wonderful and necessary thread. Here is a summary of an email I am about to send to tech support. I have a print disability and read all my books crrently on an iPod touch. Needless to say, this is painful. When I saw the nookcolor, I was amazed, but in the store, it seemed all colors were just variations of white and black (I know there are a few others, but they are not enough of a hue away from white or black). Until at least number 1 is dealt with, I will not buy a nookcolor.

In fact I almost settled for a crappy Cruz Tablet. Lukily for you, no one has one set up with a whole page of text for me to try.

#1 More color options. I use red text on a black background. If people wanted black and white they would buy an eink display or an actual tablet (to do all the other things you are all focusing away from).

#2 Export notes into text file. this needs to happen. What if the data gets corrupted? As a teacher, I read a book and take notes in it on lectures. Sometimes, I project those on a screen. On paper, I can scan them in easy (I have to do a lot of reading for work on paper because of this). On a nook, it would be locked away.

#3 Really, no personal books on home page? That seems a bit rediculous

#4 Add your own dictionary too look up words (most of the words I encounter which I need to look up are not in the onboard dictionary, and I read without Internet a lot).

#5 Custom image background with alpha transparency would be nice. with the right image, it makes the digital thing feel like an antique book page. #6 Page flip effect helps this too. Both of the above eat battery power immensely.

#7 I would like a file browser. #8 until you address some of the above, allow people to sideload apps. That way, they can get those experiences with other apps in the meantime (Aldiko and Laputa).

Thanks all for reading, and creating such wonderful hardware.

~Leko P.S. I did sign up for the dev program

I noticed the same thing about not being able to update my facebook status.  I was able to type one letter and then the keyboard disappeared.  Hopefully this is something that will be remedied quickly.  I tend to type status updates related to whatever I am reading.  Would have really liked to be able change my status to read "NOOKCOLOR ROCKS!!!"  but after realizing that I couldn't do it from the NC the urge just left me.  sadface

Landscape viewing for books would be nice - or maybe I haven't figure out how to enable it - but magazines and web pages automatically go landscape when I turn the Nook, but books seem to be locked in to the vertical view.  The Nook for Android app does this - it just seems surprising that the Nook that uses Android doesn't. :smileyhappy:
