I'm sure I probably want most of what everyone else wants, and now I have a new request. when I downloand I'd like the power to select where I want my download to go, or at least after it downloands, the ability to move the file to where ever I want it to go.  In theory understand why they probably do it, but I just want more power without having to hook my nookcolor up to my computer to get access to the drive.

It's not a deal breaker, but it's a nice to have.  :womanhappy:

The shelf feature is great but would be more helpful if a book placed on a shelf was "moved" out of the library.  As you get more books it becomes very difficult to determine what you have filed on a shelf if they still appear in the full library and the shelf.

          I agree.

Would also like to be able to adjust sound settings (bass, treble).  There's absolutely no bass when I listen with high quality headphones.

            Glitchster

Great job on the update. BUT, shouldn't it have been titled "1.0.2 update".

It's nice to see that B&N are doing the necessary software house cleaning, before adding changes that will propagate earlier minor errors to newer builds, that certainly will have their own minor glitches.

Fighting the natural logarithmic growth potential of minor programming errors are inherent, time consuming, redundant, unrewarding and reinforces the need for a well structured BETA test process that integrates user feedback in a timely manner.

The biggest error overlooked here is in semantics UPDATE or UPGRADE; TOMATOE or TOMATA: POTATOE,POTATA... Let's call the whole thing fixed???

There are several things I would like to see in a new update:

              1.  Magazine:  The availability to print.  There are recipes and coupons in the magazine that would be nice if you could print them.  Hopefully you can find a way to be able to only allow certain "articles" to be printed if that is the issue.  Lets face it, I could get the printed magazines mailed to my house for cheaper on a yearly subscription, however I like not having to carry my magazines around the nook is more convienant.  They are saving on printing and postage for us nook subscribers, so I think we should be able to print some to the articles that we would like to save.

              2.  Magazines:  Would like to be able to place bookmarks with attached note for easy searching of an article or ad I really like.

              3. Books:  I would love to see a way to organize all my books.  I know there are shelves, but I have no way of knowing if I didn't add a book to a shelf.  Books that are just samples should be automatically placed into a "Sample Shelf".

              4.  Books:  A way to delete samples from the nook color

              5.  Apps:  I would love to see a book jouranling app so that I could record when I read a book, what my thoughts were, and show any highlights made withing the book and/or notes.  Also, with the availability to print or save as a word doc file.

              • 289. Re: What users want in the NOOKcolor 1.1 update

I want to designate where my books go at time of download and I want them all to be treated like they are apart of the family regarless of where they live or where they came from.  I've adopted them, they are apart of the family and I want my nook to love them to.

two features from Nook for Android app:

                  - page turn animation

                  - background color chooser

                  and really helpful:

                  - ability to disable / change / customize touch-screen settings on the reader (for me, disable the sidebar tap page turn so I don't keep accidentally turning pages when I'm holding the device for extended periods of time)

                  • 291. Re: What users want in the NOOKcolor 1.1 update

                    A couple more -

Finally got around to reading SuperFreakonomics, and footnotes are really bad on my NC. Hard to get back to the original page. Possibly I'm doing it wrong.

Another, and this is a bn.com thing as much as a Nook thing (but the two are becoming one, aren't they?), is the ability to block certain authors from appearing when I shop. I will never buy a book by Charlaine Harris, but every time I go to Fantasy and Sci-Fi I have to scroll through what appears to be several hundred Sookie Stackhouse books, for example.

A filter to block sub-genres, e.g. young adult, would be nice as well. Get rid of the endless supply of teenage vampire novels all at once.

The ability to buy an entire series with one click would be great. A discount for doing so would also be nice :smileyhappy:

Make buying books more like buying music - don't charge my card 5 times if I buy 5 books. Wait a few hours, at least, and charge me once.

Someone mentioned an auto shelve feature. I second that emotion.

                    • 292. Re: What users want in the NOOKcolor 1.1 update

As of now (3/22/2011) you can play mp4 videos on the NookColor.  The only drawback is that you have to remember how many minutes you are into the movie, then manually go to that point if you have left that file for any reason.  Wish they had a bookmark function like most tablet movie applications.

Ability to read books in landscape view :smileysad:

Litterly copy pasta'd this from my coment in another similar fourm.

I only have two really annoying issues, both involve Scrolling. I want to be able to browse my pictures while keeping their file structure and scroll through them after opening one. I have a lot of manga's saved as .jpeg's and it is really tedious trying to find the first page of the right one in the series when they are in the gallery app. I would also like a scroll bar in my library. I'm OK with my library being alphabetical, but when I want to read Zack Zublargonson I'm SOL unless I know the book name and search it, or the author, and usually end up getting unrelated results. If I try to swipe to the bottom, I usually end up opening something, and then have to go back and start over from the top. That or being able to browse by Author via the first letter of their last name.

Zip up the .jpeg files into a standard .zip file, then rename the file to .cbz. You should be able to read it sequentially then.

I am curious since current OS version is 1.4+ if these suggestions are aimed at probable 1.5?

                                (1) As noted, this is kicking a long obsolete thread from July of last year to the top of forum

                                (2) Also as noted, the 1.4 (1.4.1, 1.4.2, 1.4.3) version fixes the problem. Just zip the files and rename that zipped file to .cbz, the built in reader will let you read it using pinch to zoom and drag to read.

The same person above is also (in a separate message) adding to the thread which suggests improvements to the Nook 1st edition in the "forthcoming" v1.5 release.

I wouldn't be unahppy if B&N took every thread that was more than six months old and locked them.
