Disappointing Experience with NST with Glowlight

I hate this NST with Glowlight.

On the home screen, my "currently reading" selection ALWAYS says I'm on page 1.  So therefore, if I touch the "currently reading" space, it takes me to page 1.

Even though I "bookmark" a page, whenever I wake up my nook, I'm back on page 1 and there are NO BOOKMARKS in the content section.

If I'm in the middle of reading say, BookOne, and I browse my library and open up something else...say, BookTwo, when I go back to BookOne....I'm on page 1 again....and NO BOOKMARKS in the content section.

I have to keep a post-it or something where I write down what page I'm on, so that when I open up my NST with Glowlight again, I use the GOTO PAGE feature to pick up where I left off.

No matter WHAT, whenever I navigate out of the book I'm currently reading, it always goes back to page 1 with no bookmarks..  Connect the NST with Glowlight to the PC to sideload content to the microSD card?  Back to page 1 of my current read wtih no bookmarks upon disconnect  Leave my book to go add some other books to shelves?  Back to page 1 of my current read with no bookmarks upon returning.

There are some other things I don't like about the NST with Glowlight, but they are things more along the lines of "It doesn't do things the same way the 1st generation nook did" so I'm not going to detail them here.

My NST with Glowlight is registered.

      It is using version 1.2.0

I've reset the NST with Glowlight twice to try to correct the issues I'm having, but no such luck.

I can't return it.  I got it for my birthday and it was purchased a month before I received it.

What you're experiencing is NOT  the norm.  Have you spoken with CS or  talked to one of the salesperdons at your nearest BN store?

Are you sure you can't return it? If it's less than a year old, you can.

          Good luck.

You can not return it, you can however get it replaced with a refurbished one if it's under the one year warranty.

I suspect you got a bum unit, and I suggest either calling CS or going to a store and seeking out their Nook specialist.  If the page number problem persists through a reset then it's likely to be indicative of other issues.  As you say there are other issues I really think the NSTG you got is just a lemon.

As has been said, that's not the norm, it should remember the last page for every book you open on it.

Well, I went to B&N after work and spoke with one of their Nook Geniuses (or whatever they're called) and showed him the issues I was experiencing.  He said, "You have sideloaded content on your device.  We cannot guarantee the performance of the device with sideloaded content."

I told him that surely that only applies to how the device handles the specific sideloaded content, since they might not all conform to epub standards (such as no table of contents, no page breaks between chapters, etc).

He reiterated that the presence of sideloaded content could result in diminished performance from the device.  He recommended that I remove all of my sideloaded content, reset the device, register it again, get a book from the BN store, and see if I still have issues.

I told him that's absolutely ridiculous and requested to speak with another Nook Specialist (or whatever they're called).  Of course, he was the only one there at the time and that I could come back tomorrow but I should expect to hear the same thing.

I'm going to try another BN store this weekend.

On my NST, in updates 1.2 and 1.2.1, I regularly see a bug that only seems to happen with shelved sideloaded books.

The on page number, in READING now on the home screen, is frequently reset to page "1" for no good reason!  Opening that book from the homescreen always shows the book with no bookmarks, highlights or notes.  Even using the book icon in the upper left corner, seems less than totally reliable, for shelved sideloaded books.

Fortunately, whenever you open the same book from the library, all content is invariably available.

This has been a common problem for awhile now.  I just never go to the home screen since there is nothing there that I want.  If I used my wifi alot, I suppose I might check the daily deal and the free friday selection from there, but the only time I have it on is to download new purchases.
