I received my Nook HD a few weeks ago and thought I would try a free trial on a magazine. I clicked on subscribe and the confirmation box popped up with this message:
"You may cancel anytime during your free trial by clicking on "Manage Subscriptions" in your Account and you will not be charged. You're eligible for one free trial per title.
After the trial, your default credit card will be charged at the then current monthly subscription rate. Gift cards and certificates do not apply to subscriptions. "<!-- end of AOLMsgPart_1_d3aac04f-dd6d-4329-9d14-5d6824132ad9 -->
I thought I was good to go and clicked "confirm". Next thing I noticed I got a statement saying my credit card would be chared $1.86, or whatever the price was for the first month issue.
Does anyone know if this is just a standard message and I won't be charged until 14 days has passed? I checked my credit card online statement and didn't see the charge, but it's only been 15 minutes so it might be too soon for it to show up. Thanks for any advice anyone who has tried the free trial can give.
You will not be charged.
Log into your account at BN.com online, look at your orders at the top. The subscription (order) will say 'processing' for 14 days, and then bill you unless you cancel.
Go to 'manage my subscriptions further down the page to cancel if you wish.
As long as the order states 'processing' you are not billed.
If there is an error, call CS at 1 800 the-book for a refund.
