There is a specific format the movie needs to be in. I don't know exactly because I don't put movies on mine, but if you search the threads you will find it.

Just searched for this thread to see how others are putting movies on NC. I used DVD Catalyst 4. It is really easy to use. I like easy! Just google it and download. Set to Anxroid and NC. It was $10 but worth it. I got one movie from itunes and one from a dvd that I borrowed from a friend. Netflix would be a nice app for NC. :smileyhappy:

These so-called "Digital Copies" that you get with some Bluray & DVD movies (or the ones some memorycard companies give away) are DRM-protected, meaning that a device and the file needs to be activated and connected to eachother in order for it to play. The NOOKcolor doesn't have this activation system. The same goes for movies you can purchase/rent from iTunes.

In general, unless you have an Apple device or play them on your computer, "Digital Copies" are pretty much useless.

What about streaming your Digital Copy from your PC to your NC via WiFi, using something like DLNA?  Isn't that a possibility?

There is an Android program called "PocketBlu" that works in a similar way, but its a bit unstable and only works with some Bluray players and some movies.

If you would use something like SplashDesktop, which basically streams your computer screen over then it should work, but its a bit of a hassle. Most streaming solutions, like Orb, Tversity etc, transcode video files on the fly, and the DRM on "Digital Copies" prevents that.

Supposedly FOX is working on implementing Digital Copies for Android, but until that is actually available, trying to get them to work is a major pain. Converting your DVD/BR is easier, and you are not limited to just streaming.
