    Any Idea Why....

Yesterday I was looking at the new William H. Seward biography- Seward, Lincon's Indespensible Man.  It showed a release date of today 9/18/12 and you could pre-order the hardcover and the Nook version.  Today, 9/18/12 you can only order the hardcover from BN.  I checked Amazon- they have it for the Kindle and I have checked Google Play and they have the epub version.  I contacted customer service and was told that it's up to the publisher to release the epub version and to check back in a couple of days.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

This book is published by Simon and Schuster, one of the publishers involved in the DoJ settlement.  It's possible, though I haven't heard any news on this, that B&N has not gotten a new contract with S&S yet, and temporarily isn't selling their ebooks.  I tried to look up other S&S titles that release today to check, and it seems that S&S has a bit of a flub on their website - the "new releases" section lists books from 9/11 and earlier, and the "coming soon" section lists books for 9/25 and later, with nothing on the books coming out today (you'd think they'd be pushing those, LOL).

I checked a Hachette book I've been waiting for, but it appears those are still under the agency contract.

If it were me, I'd buy from Google Play.

In the past, I've seen B&N get the ebook release date wrong, but they're actually showing that this book isn't available for the nook, so I suspect something else is going on here.

...BoB has it too. They have an excellent selection for an independent.
