How Do You Use Your Nook?

I have found so many uses for my Nook that I thought it might be interesting to see how others use their Nook.

For me, I use it as a calendar and reminders.  Great Nook Apps for that.

I use my Nook as a calculator and I leave myself notes I will need later.

Sometimes I play word games and card games, too.

I have been using the web feature more and more, as well.

And, of course, and primarily, I use it for reading both free and paid books as well as library books, too.

I use my Nook every day and love it.

Using mine with roll my own CM7 android. So have more apps & choices available.

Like Moon+ pro reader gives a better reading experience which compromises about 50% of use.

Google Street Maps to find my way around. Trimet Bus schedule app for getting there. Local apps for Restuartants,Shopping,etc...

Have links to my photography portfolio sites and a portfolio of my images on the device to show clients my style and images they may be interested in. And can check status of sale of prints. Also check my flickr page for activity on my images.

Have a few games but don't play much except chess now to exercise this ole' brain.

Pulse and news360 apps let's me keep up on tech & photography news. Use Dropbox on Nook & PC where I can upload docs,images,ebooks,etc... And download to my nook when needed. Or upload something to my Dropbox needed for my main desktop PC.

Evernote App on Nook & PC and can organize tasks, todo's,Items needed, research from web,etc... and info instanstly available on nook or PC.

          .

Reading first. But I check e mail and calander, play a couple games, ck news, probably more often than on my smart phone.

In order of frequency of use:

              Reading magazines.

              Web browsing (Dolphin).

Reading and editing Word/Excel docs (QO Pro).

              Checking email.

Transferring files between NC and PC (Dropbox primary).

Lending to visiting grandchildren so they can read children's books and play Angry Birds.

              Book reading.

The above list is pretty much the order I expected it to be when I bough it in early December, 2010.

Reading, mostly. Watching Youtube videos, ever since my Roku YouTube channel dropped down from showing 360p resolution to 288p resolution. Checking email when waking up and before coming downstairs to my netbook. Playing Soduko.

I've rooted my Nook Color, and if I was on the road with WiFi, I'd use the rooted side to watch Crunchyroll anime and Korean historical dramas on Viki, but at home where I watch that on my Roku, its been over a week since I launch the Zeam home launcher to get to any of the rooted stuff.

I use mine basically for reading magazines and my ebooks.  Sometimes I check my email on it and sometimes I use it to play some games.  I use it every morning to check the local weather and to read some newspapers online.

I also also my favorite radio stations on Pandora, and of course, when I have enough time, I watch a movie or two on Netflix.

                    1) Netflix

                    2) Testing Apps

                    3) Reading

                    4) Ordering Groceries (yes, it works).

                    5) Games sometimes.

I found that Nook Tablet (and Nook color) are the ideal size for NEtflix (which is pretty much the only non-work thing I do, other than watching Arsenal games). The iPad was too big, the Nexus 7's screen is strange (perhaps I got a faulty unit. Kindle Fire doesn't let me use apps since I'm in Canada.

This might found strange but I found Nook Tablet to be much better than my PC or even TV for movies. No idea why - perhaps that it's so convenient and portable.

When I was using it, basically as an ereader and a portable movie theater. Now it will probably be used more as an educational toy for the kids since B&N has several good educational apps.

What note-program do you use? That was one of my pet-peeves, when I got it last year and last looked early this spring, before going on vacation.

I use my NC less after finally getting a smart phone, however reading epubs is the primary use.  2nd main use is as TV info device, we like checking out info on actors, bios, history, movie info, wiki, etc on what we watch, and the NC is perfect for this.  Before I used my laptop which was heavy never like leaving it on the coffee table.  If I'm tired I read the news while in bed on the NC.  During the summer I like to get in the pool and either listen to music or talk radio streaming via the NC plugged into a set of speakers, no static much better than regular radio.

My smartphone has a faster cpu and has greater general functionality mostly due to the many android apps available (not available via B&N apps),  but I still love my NC.!

Also, during election season I click through on enough articles at Nate Silver's 538 blog to run up against the NYT monthly article limit, so then I use the Nook Color to read those articles instead.
