Nook Color Reset Itself to 1.1

I downloaded a book from Barnes and Noble. My Nook Color had automatically updated to 1.2 a couple of weeks ago. After I downloaded book my Nook rebooted itself. It reverted to 1.1 software. When I try to open the book I bought It says error cannot open book. Other books open fine. What do I need to do to get it back to 1.2 and open my book. Where do you buy and download game apps, etc after it is updated. I couldn't find that on my Nook before this happened.

You couldn't have gotten 1.2 functions without rooting. The update just came out Monday. If you have official software 1.1, download 1.2 to your computer and sideload it. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nookcolor-support-software-update/379002520/?bnit=H&cds2Pid=35758

Follow the instructions, and when your nook is updated, the Extras will say Apps. Go shopping and the apps will be there. There were officially no apps before update 1.2.

I have to say I downloaded the 1.2 update on Monday after work when I got home.  Everything has been working GREAT well save the nook friend app.  Then today I took my homeshooled son to another town to do his state testing and then went and hung out at the hastings, the only book store we have.  I was sitting there reading for about an hour and a half maybe a little longer when my nook just turned off.  WTH?!  So when we get home I tried turning it back on and it tried to turn on then turned off after the nook color splash screen.  I was like huh? Then I plugged it in and it started like it was starting and it said Clearing Data then installing update.  Again WTH and then I notice the splash screen it said the The Future of Reading or something like it did on 1.1  then it turned off again.  I called Tech support and all they could say is they have had this issue. Where when people manually update and the update comes over the air to your device something might happen to it.  I am more upset by thefact they are sending me a refurbished device. I have had a screen protector and skin on it from the get go and never had a scratch and to think I might be getting one with a scratch disturbs me.  Also that someone returned this device for a reason.  Ok Vent over I guess

I definitely have not rooted it. It just said one night that it was updated and showed the N icon. When I looked at system it said it was 1.2. But, now it says 1.1. Doesn't matter just interesting. What does sideload mean? Will BN not automatically update it again? I need to do it manually?

Is sideload just copying the file to the root directory? Thanks.  Sorry for questions. Just new at this.
