Reset to V1.0+Sideload V1.2=Purchased Apps seen as ebooks error

I did a clean install of V1.2, after, doing the 9X ON/OFF install of V1.0. Eliminating any remnants of V1.1. I did this to solve a video problem with sound being out of synch with video. Using step by step instructions from the General Discussion board. All loaded up fine and no errors occurred during this process. Most of my eBook B&N library autodownloaded ok. However, most of the APPS I purchased will not run. According to the error windows that display NC sees my APPS as ebooks. I did not find a way to reload the APPS from B&N. So, I can't use the APPS I purchased. CAN ANYONE AT B&N(OR ANYBODY IN THE KNOW) HELP GET MY APPS BACK?!?? FRUSTRATION 99.9%

Did you call customer service?  Seems like a good task for them.

I saw a couple of posts where folks had the same problem I did...resetting to 1.1, reinstalling 1.2, and having apps show up in the books library.  Then the apps don't open because the NookColor is trying to read them as books.

I called customer service and she had me go into settings > device info > erase & deregister > and tap the button to remove all books, files, and side-loaded content from the NC.  All of my apps and books remain safely on the B&N website.

The NC rebooted back to the welcome screen, and I re-registered the device and re-downloaded my books and apps.  The books downloaded instantly, but the apps took a few minutes.  However, once they reloaded they did reappear in the apps library with the install bar on them.  Good as new.

This isn't really a step-by-step (cause I don't want to be responsible for anyone else's device) but I just wanted to let you know that the issue is fixable. When you call customer service, I would warn you to make sure you have a back up of any side-loaded documents, files, or wallpapers because they will be removed during the re-install.  The customer rep forgot to tell me that ahead of time, but luckily I only had a few wallpaper files that I can easily replace.

I took full responsibility for my NOOKcolor and used your advise which was extremely helpful!

Thank you, for your post. It was a very easy solution. Everything is working as it should.

Thanks again for your time & post...

I had emailed nook support about the exact same issue and they sent a suggestion but it was useless.  THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting your step by step.  It works perfect now! :smileyhappy:

Find the apps in your library....and archive them.

Then you should be able to unarchive them (or re-download them from the Nook app store) and all should be well.
