I have the same problem on 1 out of 2 nook colors. I don't get the WPA error suggestion, though
I have 2 NC's. One connects just fine & the other...what a pest!
I purchased both (2 months ago) at the same time & both were working & connecting to the internet just fine until recently. Both stopped connecting at the same time. So at 1st I thought of my cable company (which I have wifi with) I have spoke with my cable company & they helped me with it all. Everything worked out fine for ONE Nook. Still having issues with the other & its wifi connection.
I put in the password
it says "obtaining IP address from...."
and then it starts all over again.
also get this:
"important message: there seems to be an issue with your wifi connection that could be due to security settings. try changing your security settings from WEP to WPA or WPA2."
how do i do this????
I am losing it! help?
Perhaps there is a connection limit set in your router settings.
If you forget the Wifi connection on the NC that works, can you connect with the other one?
tsquad27: The type of security is set at your router. Because one NC is connecting and the other is not I would believe that the security setting is OK. In Android devices when they connect, test then disconnect, connect, test and disconnect it is often a security conflict. I would attempt this set of actions on the non-functioning NC:
1. Hold the power button until the device shuts completely off (about a 10 count.)
2. Wait a few seconds then Power on.
3. Go to "Settings"
4. Delete or "forget" the current Wi-Fi connection for the network you have been trying to join.
5. Refresh the list of networks available
6. Attempt to sign on
Let us know how this works out. It is a solvable issue.
This actually worked for me, and am I ever elated. I've worked on this issue several weeks, and nothing posted would ever work for me. So a big THANKS!
I'M HAVING PROBLEMS CONNECTING TO MY WIFI . IT READS THAT IS OBTANING IP ADDRESS ONLY AND THEN IT READS DISABLE, SRCURED WITH WEP NOTHING ELSE AFTER THE LAST READING.
I'm having the same issues with my Nook Color which also started about a month ago. For the last year it has connected to the wifi no problem. B&N seems to be totally ignoring this bug in there software. I have tried all the previous suggestions, re. messing with my wifi settings, and none of them work. It's a software issue no doubt about it.
I was considering the new Tablet, put given this glitch that is being ignored by B&N, I have serious reservations!!!!
Nook HD worked great until hotel upgraded WIFI system - then connects/disconnects and never really connects. iPhone 5 works fine at hotel and Nook works great everywhere except hotel.
Hotel called company that upgraded system - they manually entered mac address, sprinkled Holy Water on the router and Nook and chanted several magical incantations - all to no avail. After 4 hours on this problem, upgrade company gave up and said it is soemthing in the Nook. B&N says it is the cable company or the router company and cable company says don't call us again.
I have installed WIFI Connector - also no good.
So....any suggestions? Since the router is owned and managed by others, this would have to be a Nook centric solution.
