Known Problem with 1.2 update, ADE

    gobasso

I am posting this because I have seen others with the same problem. The latest update will deactivate your NOOK from your ADE software causing you to get an error dialog box that says,"User not activated" when you try to open a book that was downloaded from ADE. Please follow my other post "Update Zaps Purchased Books" to find a fix for this problem. I only hope someone at B&N is monitoring this site and will stop the rolling update before more people are affected (hint, hint).

Odd. I can only assume a B&N moderator added the "1 person had this problem". If it was a moderator they need only check this board and the e-ink support board to realize that many people are having this problem. Not very good customer service for an update screw up. Shame, shame.

That means that one person clicked the me too button, not that BN thinks only one person has the problem.  It's not added by any moderator.

I bought my Nook in July 2011 because at the time only the Nook (& not the Kindle) could download library books. I have spent HOURS the past 2-3 weeks trying to resolve why I suddenly could not get the books I downloaded from the library onto my Nook.

A Nook "expert" at the local B&N bookstore spent 2+ hours with me and my Mac & could not figure out why I could not get my library books on my Nook. I then spent another 2 + hours with an "expert" on the B&N help site.  No one there could resolve my problem.  I finally ended up buying the 2 library books because I had reserved them weeks ago and knew it would be several weeks to get them again.

I've gone to the local B&N bookstore twice with this problem about downloading from the library.  The salespeople have been lovely, have given me a great deal of time, but have no idea what is going on about the 1.2 update!

From skimming some of the write-ups, I honestly still don't know how to resolve this problem.  My husband, knowing how much time I have spent on this problem and how frustrated I still feel,  just asked me if I wanted a Kindle for Christmas!

I love my Nook.  I want to read library books on it (and not on my computer, where they suddenly appear).

I have a Mac Book Pro and a new Mac Air.  I am reluctant to delete everything from my Nook because I fear I will do it wrong and have an even worse mess.  I don't know anything about hidden files, etc.  Can someone give me clear, simple directions on how I can again download library books to my Nook?

There are several threads with instructions in them.  On this board, scroll down a few threads and you'll see several with ADE and user not activated.  There are instructions and discussions on completing the steps with a Mac.

One other thing, don't use the deregister re register option, except as last resort.  Deleting the two files and reauthorizing should work.
