    Archiving Books and The Cloud

    Ruff16965

      Good afternoon,

I am new to the Nook HD, used to a Nook Color. I’ve got a couple of questions that I need help with. On my Nook Color, when I archived something. The image remained in my library folders. Does that work on the HD? I know I did something the other day with a couple of books and I had to totally delete them and rebuy or in the case of the wife’s Harry Potter book go to the Pottermore store and download it again.

I could find the books with the search feature, but not actually seem them in the library/recently downloaded books. It seemed they were there but not there if that makes sense. There are times that I will be places without internet access and I want to have enough to read and like to go back to old favorites.

Thanks for any and all help.

You can still archive books on the HD.

Press and hold the Volume Up button and then tap the book you want to archive. A longer list should pop up than usual and "archive" should be an option.

Archived books will only show on the list of "archived" books in the library and not with the rest of the books loaded on the device.

To read the books again, i believe you would need internet access to unarchive them just as you would when getting from the cloud.

Don't "delete" your books on the HD because that does completely remove them from your library and you will have to repurchase them like you did.

          Hopefully I've made sense.

Thanks for the reply.  It does make sense. But how do I get the book beck from the cloud?

I am assuming that what I did earlier in the week was not deleting as the books, still showed up online and my wife's Nook. But I could not get them to show up, they would show up on a search but not in the books.

Have you checked your profile? Are the books "checked."

If you archive a book, it will remove the book from your library on EVERY device you have.  Doesnt deleteit, it is still there (in another area) and can be unarchived and redownloaded again. On the HD, in your library, in the lower left corner there is an icon with 3 bars. If you tap it, you'll see some options and one of those is "view archive."

The "cloud" feature on the HD is a little different.  It means its in your library but it isnt downloaded.  So in your case, if there are books your wife wants on her NC but you dont want downloaded to your HD, you'll see the book in your library account (dont archive it.) You'll see the book in your library, but as long as it has the little cloud icon next to it, it hasnt been downloaded and leaves you room for other things.

Dont delete things unless you (and your wife) truly never want it again. It's deleted from your account (not the device.)

Are you sure that the icon remains in your library when you archived something? Really thought it disappeared from the library list (thats the point of archiving.)  Does that help?
