I'm impressed with DVD Cat 4. Took a movie file off archive.org, 1 hr 30 mins. Program took 11 mins to convert it and played fine. No sound sync issues either. Could not believe it at first.

if you visit Archive.org on your Nook, and select the 512 MPEG4 links, they will stream directly. No need to download those or convert them,

Yikes...I feel so dumb... I have DVD Catalyst and have converted my tv show DVDs to my NC.  But I never heard of archive.org.  So I just went on it, and don't understand how to stream or download from it. In their FAQs, they say to download, rt click on link, and save target as. Which I did, and it came up in my computers documents in notepad. Is there a simple answer for me?  DVD Cat, you said above "select the 512 mpeg4 links"....what and where, please..thx.

Here is an example Archive.org link for the movie Hercules:

          http://www.archive.org/details/hercules

If you visit that, you get to the following:

Just tap on the 433.4MB (in this case) underneath 512Kb MPEG4, and it will play right away.

(I can never get images to show up correctly here for some reason, sorry about that)

I have the nook 1.2 rooted with manual nooter. I purchased DVD Catalyst 4 and ripped "Shoot em up" I transferred the file to my SD card and the nook will not play it. I did it again with at 720x420 and it still will not play. What is going on?

How are you accessing the file?

The build-in Gallery is quite picky in where the files are located in order for it to play it. If you select the file through the Library > My Files, it doesn't matter where the file is located in order to play it.

I went through the libray and selected the file from the micro card. Does it need to be in a particular directory.

From there it doesn't matter, it should play.

Did you change any settings other than selecting the NOOKcolor profile?

When you play the file (it should be located in your Videos folder) on your computer (using quicktime or VLC) does it play?

I didn't change any other settings. One more thing, there was some sort of codec error at the end of the duplication, this happened after every section converted (there were three sections). The file was about the right size, I have not tried playing it on my computer(it is at home) I will try when I get back.

An error message at the end of the conversion is a bit strange. Usually if there are complications, they occeur at the very beginning of the conversion.

I just purchased I Am Number Four, and tried to convert it. It read the DVD as I Am Number Four, and then brought up the qeue as usual, but it was blank. Does this mean the DVD is blocked from  conversion or....? I am trying this on my laptop. I have Catalyst on my Desktop, and will try it on there as well, just to make sure it is not a fluke.

I don't recall people mentioning issues with that DVD, but based on your description, it seems that the detection engine has some complications.

Please update to the latest Public Beta (which has better scanning code and overall just works a bit better) and see if that fixes your issue.

More info on the beta and on how to download and install it can be found here:

Friday and had five movies converted in a short period of time.  The steps were very easy.

I had an issue with the sixth movie.  It had the 99 tracks issue identified on their site.  I was able to identify the proper track but still had an issue.  I emailed about the problem Saturday night around 11:00 PM and had an answer that worked 10 AM Sunday.

I have an older nookcolor so I have more internal memory than some of the newer models.  I have loaded two movies on internal memory and have three on a micro SD card.  Doing some quick tests, everything seems to work well.

I now have a number of DVDs converted on my hard drive so I can swap them out quickly before or after a trip.

I download a free trial of the  DVD Catalyst 4 so I can see if it worked before buying it. I figured out how to use it but it only downloads on my nook just the first 30 mins of the movie. Can it be because I'm using a free trial or am I doing something wrong?
