    Problems with ereader on Iphone

I have loved my ereader on my Iphone but tonight it suddenly quit working.  It will open and try to load and then close again.  I'm not sure what to do with apps that don't work.  I have tried re-starting the phone and re-loading the app. Any assistance would be appreciated.

        • Fix the freaking Iphone App!

The crashing has been going on way to long there are posts all over the place and not one single word from Barnes and Noble.  Complete crap customer service

I'm talking with my money I will never buy another book from Barnes and Noble digital or other wise.  Kindle for Iphone here I come.  Now if i can only get the book I did purchase so i could at least read them.

            greatjava

Have you tried deleting the application from the iPhone, syncing, then going into the app store to re-add it? You would lose your settings and positions in books you are reading.

Don't bother trying to reinstall it, it still wont work the last update completely broke it.  There has been no updates no answers the only word we have is hersay and that is it will be fixed this week.

Try the Kindle app from amazon heard much better things, i'm trying it out today.

I have the same problem.  When I try the delete and add I still get my same information.  I have books that are locked, whenever I add my unlock credit card number the app crashes.  It also does not sync with the Nook.  Any ideas?

On a different note from CMegalodon's post, I'm glad to see the unlock with credit card # is legit.  When I ran across it, I was a hesitant to enter the info, as it seemed like a possible ID theft deal.  Since we all have credit card info on file with B&N for e-purchases, couldn't the unlock code be something a lot less threatening?  For example, our sign-on pw for B&N.com??  Is there a place to provide B&N with direct feedback about an issue like this, or do we just hope they scan their posting spaces for the insight?

See, but this is precisely why they do it this way.  Once you enter your cc number into your iphone, it is NOT stored there - instead, a special hash code that is based on your cc number is stored.  If you could just use a password that you set up at B&N, they have no way of preventing you from giving that out to lots of people.  The very fact that they require you to use your cc number, which is a number that you would be incredibly hesitant to give out to anyone except perhaps a spouse or other VERY trusted individual means that you won't be handing out unlock codes for DRM-protected ebooks to every Tom, Dick and Harry that you meet on the internet.

I still have the original ereader.com app on my iphone and I can open books in that and read it just fine and i can leave the app open in the background for weeks w/o a problem. So saying that this is a iphone issue is just BS. B&N took a perfectly good app and managled it. Me and so many other people should not have to jump through hoops to be able to read content that we bought. Fix your chit! my wife is looking at a nook but there is no way I could feel confident in a peice of hardware if they cant get one little application working.

I was so excited to see an update for the eReader.  Finally I would be able to read my $10 purchase.  But sadly NO!  When I enter the credit card number it was purchased with, to unlock the download, "CRASH", right back to the iPhone home screen.  This is becoming the ultimate in frustration.  I even went through the whole process of de-registering my device, deleting the app from the iPhone, rebooting said iPhone, and then installing fresh from the app store.  WTF!!:smileysad:

I honestly never have Liked the B&N ereader. I always felt it was unfinished and to clunky, doesnt matter if on PC or iPod touch, when compared to Stanza. I was hoping that B&N would make it self more like Stanza, but seems like they are trying to make their ereader even worse over time instead of better.

I realy hope they fix this issue for those of you who rely on their ereader real soon. Id being going nuts if couldnt open my reader on my ipod when ever I wanted to.

I suppose they could be intentionaly screqing up the ereader program to try to force people to buy the Nook, but i cant imaging B&N being that stupid,  (Could see ATT trying pull that type of stunt but not B&N).

Hopefully B&N will relize its mistakes with the program soon and not only fix the issues but add more of the features that Stanza has, so I could switch to their program and start ordering ebooks from them. As stands right now will stick with Stanza and will eventualy by either Nook, Plastik, or Que once they resolve bugs and supply issues.

Any suggestions on a better dictionary than the one that came with the app for the iPhone?  Thanks for any help. -DK
