    HD+ suddenly very sluggish

    cgsmom

My 32 Gb HD+ has been great since I got it last May.  Suddenly it has gotten very sluggish.  It takes about 2-3 minutes to open any app, library, settings, mail, etc.  It takes a minute or 2 to open a magazine or book.  Once it is open, it works fine.  It doesn't make any difference if wi-fi is off or on. How much free space should I try to keep on it?  Right now it says Internal Storage is 70% full and SD card is 43% full.  I hate to have to deregister it because I am a fulltime RV'er and use Verizon for internet. With a data limit, I hate to download anything more than once.

      Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you done a full power down lately? Have you taken out the sd card to see if it performs normally without it? What browser are you using? Have you cleared its cache lately? Zinio is another app that apparently has a lot of cache files. Next, see what's taking up the space. Go to Settings, Storage Management, in the section for Internal Storage, there's a > to the right of the word "free." If you tap that, it will tell you what's taking up storage (ie maybe you can see if any of the info can be side loaded instead, or put on the sd card.)

Once you get to about 70% onboard memory full, you are going to start to see some sluggishness, unless you regularly clear some of the app caches. In addition to your web browser cache and Zinio, be sure to  clear the cache in all of the video apps. My hubby watches a lot of Netflix on his HD+,  and it becomes excrutiatingly sluggish if he does not clear the Netflix cache almost every day.

Thanks for your help.  I do shut the Nook down completely on occasion, so that wasn't the problem.  However, I did not think to clear the caches.  My library just got magazines through Zinio and I have been using it a lot.  I got the memory down to 53% full and it is much better.  I think I can archive some things or move some things to the SD card and it will get even better.

Thanks so much for all your help.
