Available memory for content in Shop showing up as much less

Okay, I have to admit I have sideloaded a boatload of additional content onto my Nook HD+. That's why I sprung for the 32gb version! So can someone please explain what's going on? I have about 20gb according to Storage Management in Settings. When I go to Shop, it shows my space available for additional content as less than 2gb. I even dropped a spare 16gb microSD card into it (yes, it's properly formatted for my Nook) and it still shows my available space as so little. Should I ignore the message about space for additional content or do I have a serious problem?

          Michael,

          from the HD+ page:

NOOK HD+ 32GB: 32GB total memory of which approximately 28GB is available to store user content.

if I understand correctly, B&N reserves about 4gb for OS and for content downloaded from Shop.  The 28gb is for the sideloaded content.

Jeremy, It wasn't exactly a "boatload" of content, it just seems that way to me. Under Storage Management, it says I have used 9.45gb of my available space. I should have 18.55gb available. I'm not overly concerned but when I view items in the Shop, it says I have 1.19gb available for additional content. That's what worries me. Am I missing something or does the Shop not accurately calculate available space for everyone?

Michael, think of it this way.

              You have 32 GB.

28 GB (or whatever the figure is) is for things you add yourself. Sideloaded things like photos and music and movies.

4 GB is for things you buy from B&N and the OS.

It's showing 2 GB or so because you've already bought and downloaded enough things from B&N to fill up 2 GB out of the 4 GB.

              *****

At one place I read that space is shared in HD and HD+.

              However, it might be partitioned.

With X amount for content from shop and Y amount for content you sideload.

              *****

ON My HD+ it shows 6.72 GB left for downloading content.

ARe you sure you don't have any movies or TV shows you downloaded from B&N?

What version of the software are you on?

              *****

For anyone who wants to check space available - just go to an app page in the Shop (you can type 5ivedom Solitaire if you want to quickly find an app page). At the very end of the app page it will show Space needed by App and in brackets the amount of space available.

On my Nook HD+ it was showing something like 5.95 GB free for additional content. Then I exchanged it because of the shadowing on the right side screen defect and now it shows 8.92 GB free for additional content. It it was based on Cloud storage it should be less because I've bought some new items since then.
