    Bluetooth GPS with HD+

    Swamprat

I have a Bluetooth GPS (Pharos) that I would like to use with the HD+ for looking at topographic maps on a screen larger than my iPhone and am hoping that someone has had success in doing this.  I have downloaded Bluetooth GPS essentials from GoPS and can pair the GPS with the HD+ but get a message that it is paired but not connected.  I think part of the problem is that the mapping software just expects the GPS to "be there" and does not include an option to turn it on.

Suggestions and software recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks in advance.

Did you find the old Nook Color thread on gps? Might find a hint there. It wouldn't surprise me if the gps function is part of the chip set in the HD+ but without the necessary antenna or connection needed to activate it. I could see that causing problems.

Isn't the app expecting an "internal" GPS capability rather than a bluetooth one?  You might contact the app developers and see if their app can only use an "internal" capability (like a cell phone has) or if it can also use one connected via bluetooth.
