    Pages getting stuck

Is anyone else having an issue with the page getting stuck while you are reading a book? I have this problem at least once in almost every book I read.

When I try to go to the next page, it just turns to the same page I was on. I have to manually use the content bar on the bottom and move to the next page, but sometimes it ends up skipping over a page or two.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?

I occasionally encounter the same problem and resolve it the same way you do. Another similar problem is missing a page. I will swipe (turn) a page and realize the page I am on does not make sense. To fix I have to page forward several pages then slowly back page to the missing page. If I back page too far and pass the missing page I have to do it again.

I have had the same problem, with the pages sometimes jumping back several pages when I try to page forward.  What seems to fix the problem, at least for a while, is to turn the NC completely off, not jus to standby, and then turn it back on.  Then I'm good to go for a couple of weeks.

I too have the problem (approximately 5 times).  It seems to happen with library books a lot. As a test I tried checking the ePub and the files at first glance seem ok (I suspected one giant HTML file, instead of multiple files as is recommended by the ePub standard).  I usually end up using the "GoTo" page function to go to the next page.

Other patterns seem to be that this happens more frequently if you have a lot of books and it seems to happen more frequently if you use an SD card for most/all of your books. But, I have not fully verified the pattern(s).  If it continues, I will jot down the pages and very carefully look at the HTML in the epub to see if there is something funky.

This has happened to me also. What I found to work is to rotate the NC from portrait to land scape, read a couple of pages than rotate it back to portrait. This is a quick fix that will let you continue reading. Once done reading I would still do a complete power down and back on.

+ 1 with the first four posts. I usually read epubs from other sources from the SD card and thought maybe it was those books. I've recently read two genuine Nook Books which are on the main memory and had the exact same experience. I had also noticed that if I did a full shutdown, the NC didn't "remember" the off brand book I was reading and defaulted to a Nook Book that I had started reading months ago. Then, when i pulled up the right book; the page number would be wrong by tens of pages back. I have also done a full shutdown with an open Nook Book and it returned to the wrong page. No, I don't read on any other device, but I always make a point of watching and remembering page numbers, and content, now. I can at least thank v 1.4 for memory excercises:smileyhappy:

I should also mention that I rarely have more than 4 epubs on the SD card, and I don't store anything else on it like music or videos. I will try rotating, though. Thanks for the tip!

I (we, Mondello Publishing) have several posts on this topic, unfortunately we don't have a solution. But we can easily create the problem on the Nook color SW 1.3 by building an epub that contains an image that's in a paragraph flow where that image is taller than the Nook display. When you try to page past it, the Nook thinks there's still some of that paragraph left, so it goes back to the same page. It's pretty repeatable, and the exact identical epub file will paginate properly on the Kindle(s) or iPad. We have also seen this problem occasionally with long text flows. I suspect that when you are depowering and repowering your Nook, you are also resetting both the font and the margin width, both of which impact where paragraph breaks occur. You also see the same symptom in terms of large areas of white space at the bottom of pages.  The Nook very much wants to keep paragraphs together, and so publishers need to specifically tailor (that is, modify) books to properly render on the current software. Which is unfortunate.

I would be very happy if someone can tell me that there's a simple known fix for this problem.

I am extremely frustrated with my new Nook Color.  I experience pages "sticking" every time I read a book.  At times, the Nook will skip a page, then when I try to go back and find it, it is nowhere!  Last night, I was reading "Innocent" by Harlan Coben and the book is now stuck on page 211.  I have tried everything from shutting down to trying to move on to the next pages manually by choosing the "go to page" button.  The Nook will change pages, then flip back to 211.  I tried for hours to correct this problem.  No go.  I have not tried to change the font size to see if this corrects the problem as some have suggested, however, I think it is ridiculous to have to do this.  Any ideas?  I noticed that most of the old posts are from 2010 and 2011.  It is now April, 2012 and this problem has still not been fixed?  Unacceptable.

The problem happens only once in a while, but once you are having the problem you will have problems with any book, until you either change the font, or reboot your NC.

So just change the font or reboot your NC, and with a bit of luck the problem will not return for weeks.
