    Nook App Help

    steviej

I just downloaded the Nook App and recovered my library from a lost Nook but cannot for the life of me find anything else on the App like how to purchase new books?

It all depends on which app you have on what kind of device.  Many of them don't have the ability to make purchases, so you have to use a browser on the website to actually make purchases.  What kind of device is it?

There's a long history of court cases about Apple engaging in questionable practices in the ebook market, and one of the things they did was forbid other vendors from allowing in-app purchases on their IOS apps.

                      Not quite that simple.

Apple takes a 30% cut of all in-app purchases.

Since under the Agency Model which was in place at the time Barnes&Noble was only making 30% on the sale of an eBook, Apple was demanding B&N's entire profit margin on the eBook sale to sell in-app.

                      Edited to add:

I know it seems excessive, but when you consider that so many apps in the iTunes store are "Free", this is how Apple earns money off of app sales. Also in-app purchases are processed through Apple servers, not B&N servers.
