    Looking for Sleeve Suggestions

    turnsouth

With last week's sale and the addition of the Play Store I finally took the plunge and upgraded to the Nook HD.

I bought a RooCase to keep it in (nice case by the way) but I was looking for a padded sleeve for it too.

Just for a little extra protection when its knocking around in my messenger bag.

The RooCase increases the dimensions to 8 x 5&1/4 x 1, which roughly makes it the same size as a Kindle Fire.

      Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm still using my 'Jiffy Bag'  - I think you call them bubble mailers!!

I've been used a self made envelope style sleeve. I used duct tape and some of my daughter's nature photography :-)

If the Built sleeves had fit my HD+, without being too tight or too loose, I would have bought one of them, but the dimensions look like they might work for your HD inside the case.  I much prefer sleeves to cases.

I also love the Blackberry Playbook memory foam sleeves.  I bought one at work once we clearanced them from 40 dollars to 4 dollars.  It's a little loose on my Color, but the memory foam feels so much more protective than just neoprene.  And again, the dimensions look like they'd work really wellI for your HD inside the case.  I would really love to find something like that to fit my HD+.

You could take your device down to your local office supply store, and start checking sleeves by putting your cased HD inside a sleeve, and looking at the fit.  I brought mine into work, at Office Depot, and did just that.

Thanks for all the suggestions, lots of good ideas.

I found one of these in black at a good price:

Kindle Fire HD 7" Plush Sleeve

The dimensions seem just about right, but I will have to see when it gets here.

I have often thought about going with just a sleeve and keeping the Nook bare, but I'd be far too paranoid about scratching it and would be constantly treating it like a rare gem. Plus I tend to get a little animated when I teach, and even though the case does give it the Kindle "brick" look and feel, all that extra padding will help if it should happen to slip.

I'll be sure to post back when the Timbuk2 gets here, and let you all know how how/if it fits, and what kind of protection it offers.

I have the slightly smaller version for my NST and I love it.  It's well padded and the inside is super soft - no chance of scratches! - and at the same time it's fairly low-bulk, though the fold-over flap does add a little thickness.

For anyone looking for something a little bit slimmer, I have this sleeve on my N7:

                    http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/kindle-fire-cush-sleeve

It doesn't have a foldover flap; it closes with velcro.  I didn't like the velcro because it was scratchy, so I removed the scratchy side (pulled out the stitches).  If I were to turn the sleeve upside down, without the velcro the N7 would fall out, but I just don't do that, LOL.
