        • On your old laptop, what version of ADE do you have that picks up the Adept key?
        • On your new laptop: what program, outside Calibre, do you use for Adept?

The one and only time I contacted Adobe it was through live chat on their website, and they solved my problem in minutes.  So it just depends.

Also the older authorizations do drop off.  I don't know what time table Adobe uses, but from what I've heard it's fairly rare to run up against the limit.

Thanks for the info. I just got my computer back & file wise it is pretty much of a mess. The entire Calibre file would not copy from my old HD. The tech would not even try my Clickfree back-up. I think he just wanted to collect his fee & be done with it. He just said it would not work & I could try it on my own but he could not put in any  more time. I have a bunch of things to do to just get my Win 8.1 settings back so I am not even going to mess with it until I get that done.

I had to replace my HD recently & reinstall everything. Installed Calibre 2.30, the version of ADE 2.0 that is on their website & the most recent plug-ins. To my astonishment everything is working. I did not even have to DL Nook Study to get the key. Also Google Books downloading again with no issues. It has taken me days to get everything put back together so I am so glad this part of things was pain free.

Thanks. It was touch and go for awhile. Had done a backup the day before but was not usable. I had to pull all the data off the old drive via cable. It kept stopping & I had to restart it  about every 10 minutes. I had almost 300gb on the drive & it took almost 22hrs. I had to watch it because of the need to restart so not much sleep. Thought I had lost my Calibre Library but was OK. Did lose some pictures & music. In any case, won't rely of Clickfree backup again. If anyone has a suggesting on a reliable external drive & backup software would appreciate you're pointing me in the right direction.
