My Nook will only load up to 99%. How can I fix this?

You may need to do a factory reset....

Do I need to take it to the store?

No. You should be able to find out how to do this on the support page ( depends on type of nook). Once you do it though you will have to reload all your books and apps and redo the registration etc.... So if you are close to a store it might be worth dropping by and seeing if they have any other ideas.... I assume you have tried just powering on and off?

NOOKs are a sole product of Barnes and Noble, and factory reset is always the last option to solve your nook issue. If you’re brave enough you can always try this procedure. These steps may not be updated.

                      1. Make sure you remove the SD Card or memory card on the device. Also make sure that you back up all the files that you have on the nook. (There’s a big possibility that you will lose them on the nook.)
                      2. Check if you have enough battery on the nook. It should be at least 20 %. If battery is enough proceed to the next step.
                      3. Press and hold the power button of the device as well as the home key button (horse shoe button) for 20 seconds.
                      4. After 20 seconds release both buttons then quickly press and hold both buttons (power button and home key button) again until a prompt for factory reset appears.
                      5. If successful just press the home key button to confirm and press the home key again to begin the process.
