The Spider eBook
#11 Prince of the Red Looters - August 1934
by Norvell W. Page writing as Grant Stockbridge
Never before had any criminal dared give open challenge to the Spider! Never before had Richard Wentworth faced a foe who welcomed personal combat with the grim avenger whom all others feared... And while they fought — the Spider and the Fly — a new and fearless criminal army was forming; men and women were dying by the scores; and the youth of a nation was flocking to the dark banner of that gentlemanly killer whose battle cry was “Kill the Spider — and the world is ours!”
Another epic exploit of America’s best-loved pulp-fiction character of the 1930s and 1940s: The Spider — Master of Men!
Richard Wentworth — the dread Spider, nemesis of the Underworld, lone wolf anti-crime crusader who always fights in that grim no-man’s land between Law and lawless — returns in vintage pulp tales of the Spider, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.
As a special Bonus, Will Murray has written an introduction: “Meet the Spider” especially for this series of eBooks.
These exciting pulp adventures have been beautifully reformatted for easy reading as an eBook and feature the original full color cover. Radio Archives Pulp Classics line of eBooks are of the highest quality and feature the great Pulp Fiction stories of the 1930s-1950s.

Indeed! When I clicked on it at work (where I didn't want to download the book), a popup window opened and asked me to enter my Microsoft login credentials. I'd decided to hold off and download the book on my own computer, but I see that popup window no longer opens. I imagine logging in earlier might have been a necessary step to get the book free of charge. If anyone else has been able to get the freebie, maybe they can describe their process for doing so.

A haunting tale set on New Year's Eve, The Chimes tells the story of a poor porter named Trotty Veck who has become disheartened by the state of the world, until he is shown a series of fantastical visions that convince him of the good of humanity.
- Written by: Charles Dickens
- Narrated by: Richard Armitage
- Length: 3 hrs and 42 mins
- Unabridged Audiobook
- Release Date:12-11-15
- Publisher: Audible Studios
The magnificent Richard Armitage (Hamlet: King of Denmark: A Novel) performs The Chimes by Charles Dickens.
This classic story is the second in a series of five Christmas books Dickens was commissioned to write - beginning with A Christmas Carol. A haunting tale set on New Year's Eve, The Chimes tells the story of a poor porter named Trotty Veck who has become disheartened by the state of the world - until he is shown a series of fantastical visions that convince him of the good of humanity. Though much different from and certainly a bit darker than A Christmas Carol, the moral message of The Chimes is equally poignant - touting the importance of compassion, goodwill, and the love of friends and family.
The Chimes was followed by The Cricket on the Hearth, The Battle of Life, and finally The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain. \

The Melba Marlett MINIPACK™
Melba Marlett (1909-1994) is an unjustly obscure mystery novelist, short story writer, playwright, and essayist. I am pleased to have acquired the rights to all of her works for Wildside Press; we will be bringing them back into print over the next year.
In the meantime, to whet your appetite, here is a Melba Marlett collection presenting one of her best-known short stories: “The Second Mrs. Porter” (originally published in Alfred Hitchcock’s Msytery Magazine in 1986) and a mainstream story, “White Peacocks” (originally published in Ladies’ Home Journal in 1959). Also included are 2 bios written by Melba Marlett at different stages of her career.

Just tried this again, at work and then on my smartphone. Both yielded the same results: clicking the cover opens my email and composes the following message:

If I click the large cover on this page:
I only get a larger view of the cover. But clicking the small cover in the left sidebar composes an email. They respond with the links to download the ebook and two audiobooks.
Strange how it works differently for different people (or more specifically, for different devices) At any rate, I'm glad it worked for you.
